Shadows by paul finch.
As a female cop walking the mean streets of Manchester, life can be tough for PC Lucy Clayburn. But when one of the North West’s toughest gangsters is your father, things can be particularly difficult.
When Lucy's patch is gripped by a spate of murder-robberies, the police are quick to action. Yet when it transpires that the targets are Manchester’s criminal underworld, attitudes change.
A fantastic read. A gripping twister of a read. Loved the characters well most of them. 5*.

2 stars.
This was just OK. I found it hard to get into and my mind did keep drifting. I also think that there were just too many characters which made it harder to follow. I liked Lucy, but that's pretty much it. I just couldn't really get into this. It clearly just isn't for me.

Very far fetched and violent but better than the first book

Granted it's a very far fetched story and the violence a bit much but nevertheless I enjoyed this book far more than the first in the series. How it was never discovered by the police that Lucy's father was a 'Biggie' in the underworld has been glossed over but thank goodness for that as it was on this fact alone that made me want to read this second book to find out how things developed between them. Let's hope there's a third.

Never a dull moment

A return to form for Paul Finch after the last disappointing Heck story. Second in a new series from the author, with DC Lucy Clayburn, and a cracking plot which builds to a crescendo. Not sure how I missed the first in this series as I know I have it somewhere but looking forward to more of Clayburn and Heck too.

Plenty of action
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 December 2018Verified Purchase
A good read as usual from this author, although I thought some of the “ action “ was way over the top. I’m also a bit disappointed how towards the end of the book lucy’s Father seemed to be getting more of a cleaner image, it’s going to be hard to keep their relationship under wraps if she carries on like this especially if we are to be believe that her father “grasses” to police!!!

Another hard to put down book by Paul Finch. As usual his descriptions of areas in the story show that he researches areas very well before putting words to paper.

I have never read such a "school boy adventure " before , my goodness , every adrenalin rush that could be thought of was in this book , it got very boring for me and I skipped to the last chapter rather than just stop reading it .
I have always loved Paul Finch's books , so this one was a great disappointment to me
