“Nonstop action and heart-melting romance on every page!" — Julie Ann Walker, New York Times and USA Today bestselling author

The new SBG novel from the author of Exchange of Fire

When her secretly filmed tryst shows up on the internet, Michelle Alger goes on the run. She has no choice. Not only was her one-night stand the son of a US senator, but he’s been murdered—and she’s the number one suspect. With both the senator and an avenging drug lord on her trail, her life is in danger. There’s only one man she can trust. He saved her once, but will he still be her hero six years later?

Captain Jeremy Malone and the rest of Delta Squad have the senator’s order: find the mystery woman who killed my son. But to Jeremy, she’s no mystery. Six years ago his team of Green Berets rescued her from the torturous clutches of a Colombian cartel, and he’s never forgotten her. His personal and covert mission: find Michelle before anyone else. When he and Michelle do meet again, the sparks are explosive and consuming. They’re also dangerous as hell.

Because with each new bit of evidence, Jeremy suspects that Michelle’s innocence may be a ruse—a beautiful trap set by a woman who has even more secrets yet to bare.

P.A. DePaul dazzles me again in the second installment of her SBG series!

I’m so glad we’re back with the Delta Squad as they are tasked with finding a murder suspect for a senator’s son. When the suspect turns out to be a woman from Cappy’s past, he immediately starts looking for her. The woman he saved years ago could not be a cold-blooded killer…could she? What starts out as a murder investigation turns into a multi-faceted enigma that challenges all of Cappy’s beliefs in the woman of his dreams. Buckle your seatbelts folks, because you’re in for a wild ride!

I really enjoyed SHADOW OF DOUBT! I loved Cappy and about fell out of my chair every time he took his shirt off! What a dream boat! The story was engaging and held my interest throughout the book and pulled at my heartstrings several times. Michelle’s journey has been a tough one; suffering from PTSD (Posttraumatic Stress Disorder) from her captivity six years prior really did a number on her. I loved how Cappy grounded her and was able to pull her from the PTSD episodes.

I thought Cappy and Michelle were paired well together but I did feel Michelle’s character was a little one dimensional. All we really saw of Michelle was her fragility after the kidnapping. She did toughen up at the end and I liked how she was able to start to empower herself. I’ll have to wait to see how she’s developed in the next books in order to see her depth and range.

I did have one tiny issue with Romeo. Yes, he is a sexy ladies’ man and it’s obvious from EXCHANGE OF FIRE that he and Magician—a female Delta Force team member—have undeniable chemistry but they aren’t together. What I didn’t like was that I felt Romeo exploits that around Magician by flirting and hitting on other women right in front of her.

P.A. DePaul has done it again! I loved the first book Exchange of Fire, and Shadow of Doubt was just as phenomenal! The telling of Michelle and Cappy's story is one filled with twists and turns and yet told so well that you never get lost. The two of them had such a connection to each other when they first met, and the awful circumstances that bring them back together prove the connection to each other is still there and going strong. Cappy being there for Michelle and helping her deal with PTSD was such a wonderful thing. I cannot wait for the next book from the Delta Squad!

Finding herself framed for murder, and caught on tape, Michelle runs, and needs help. She reaches out to the man who saved her six years ago, hoping he can come through with his old promise..
Jeremy gave up his old life and signed up with the covert organization Delta Squad, but never forgot his last assignment in Colombia, or the woman he saved. When she calls for help, he'll do whatever he can to help.
Contemporary romance, action, suspense and smutty fluff in a great combo.

photo my thoughts_zpsfejxs2wf.jpg I liked this book but not all aspects. I like Cappy and his loyalty and his treatment of woman. Michelle for him was it and he felt strong towards her but I didn’t like his conflict over her. It was too much at times. He kept having to fight himself and her and it just was hard to watch. Talon loved him he had a dry wit. I didn’t like Wraith and her timing to want to talk to him. I like the storyline and how it all intertwined together and helped forward the plot. I liked the Senator and his plight and how he supported the new way this group should have lives. He was understanding even when he was in pain. Athough he did cause alot of grief he went through alot as well. I despised as we all should Victor and his assassin. Seriously can you be any crueler. Even Cruella deVille had sappy moments them not so much. They added the element that was needed to keep you intrigued as to what new obstacle would be put in Cappy and Michelle’s way. Michelle had her moments. I loved her strength but at times her stubbornness was a detriment. She had character and it showed. She was understanding and smart but she also had compassion. Her love for Cappy knew no bounds but they had so much to overcome mainly Cappy and his resistance and trying to stay alive. When they did come together it was amazing and wonderful. I liked the whole ruse of Michelle to lure out the fly to the web idea. How this was a decoy and plotted without the puppet master of the assassin knowing of the double revenge. I love all the intrigue behind all the plotting and wondering why and what would happen next. The writing was great but there were areas where not so much detail was needed. The flashbacks sometimes could be kept to less detail. They were great and help you understand more of the characters just sometimes to drawn out. This was a good story of the coming together of Michelle and Cappy, the changing of the guard and how life would be for the delta squad, letting go of guilt and the past and living for the future. It was the mystery of revenge and death. A intriguing book that had you on pins and needles with all the plot twists and wondering until the revealing at the end.

I went into the book not realising that it was the continuation of a series (yeah, you'd think the SBG #2 would be the big clue eh) but that didn't detract from my enjoyment the story!

It was a good read, thought I must admit that at times I found it a tad slow going and Michelle, the lead female, did my head in slightly - I know that she had suffered through a terrible experience and was suffering from PTSD - some of the things she did annoyed me a little (maybe it's just a case of not connecting with her character fully). Jeremy (Cappy) was really likeable - a standup guy who has his own secrets and skeletons - personally I felt for a fair bit of the story that he thought too much about what was best for the team/others around him rather than what he wanted or was good for him - but overall he was a great hero.

We met other members of the SBG team which was good but at times I found myself having to stop and think about what code name related to which character, it did get a little busy with all those different characters running around.

The connection and attraction between the 2 leads was hot and full on. The story was action packed and full of suspense & intrigue and kept me interested.

I'd rate Shadow of Doubt a 3.75*. I will read the next book in the series - I know who I hope it might be about - and at some point I will go back and read the first book as I'd like to find out what went on with Wraith.

Cappy and Michelle's story is heartbreaking. Both of their lives have been tragic. Hers from being captured, tortured, and suffering from PTSD for years. His from losing his team, losing his family, his life and Michelle for the past six years. These two fell instantly in love and recaptured that being reunited to prove her innocence of murder and find the real killer. This is a suspenseful, fast-paced thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. It's a happily-ever-after ending for two strong, deserving people.

Great next installment of the SBG series. The writer does an excellent job of developing the characters we began to know in Exchange of Fire, and continues us on their suspenseful saga full of action and passion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Did I love this? - You bet I did!!! 30 April 2015

Since this is only book two then I have high hopes for the remainder of the series.
Shadow of Doubt is a ride that will push and pull you along with it as it runs amok across your kindle or as the pages flip through your fingers.
It was a smart move on the author’s part to switch things up from the scenarios that we encountered in book one, it ensured that Shadow of Doubt had its own pace and it held true to what it has to say.
This is not just a story of romance and relationship it has a tougher edge to it, an undercurrent of mystery and right from the get-go, we are left looking for more from Michelle and Jeremy. Having been part of the team that rescued a battered Michelle from hell years earlier – I think he always knew that she would be back in his life, I mean when he gave her his name and number all those years ago – he made sure she knew that he would be there if she needed him again – it was just a matter of waiting for the call.
But their next meeting though is not until significantly later than I had hoped and neither of them are willing to take what they can see at face value.
I was intrigued by the events that the author wove through the story, there was a little bit of everything and I have to say that what I liked best what the connection between Jeremy and Michelle.
Although they fought what they knew they were feeling inside, I mean a blind man could see there was no running away from it but damn did they take their sweet time getting together.
Michelle’s past can be described as having been painful at best and at its very worst it could be positively described as heart-breaking but she is a tough cookie and is prepared to fight what tries to hold her back in her determination to be the woman she wants. It is not all plain sailing but there is no keeping her down – and I thought that was a powerful message to send – life is a series of events that may shape you but doesn’t define you!
Jeremy is a fighter in every sense of the word, this military colossus has his head screwed on but that is not to say that it is cloud free, he battles demons on a daily basis and keeps his heart under lock and key but it takes mental strength to be able to do what he does day in day out, people’s lives depend on him and his ability to isolate his feelings- but is this a trait he has mastered too well?
The group and the guys made for this being a phenomenal read- I loved it. I loved the pace and flow of the story, the fact that I had to learn to expect the unexpected and that the two of them made me wait until they eventually got to where they needed to be.
Waiting with baited breath for book 3
