Humorous, lovely romance

I auto-buy/ 1-click any Sawyer Bennett book and must admit I was a little disappointed when this arrived on my kindle and I then read the synopsis because I'm not much of a band romance lover. However I really did enjoy reading this as the writing is so easy and the heroine so lovely.
Emma Peterson likes order, books, contracts, detail and peace. She is not particularly happy working at the busy law firm, Knight and Payne, where her dad is a partner however she's stuck there in her first year as an associate lawyer. Her boss (the infamous Midge, we've met in previous legal books by Sawyer) sends her to help out her nephew who is recently catapulted to fame rock God status and is implicated in a murder.
To say they clash is an understatement but Evan finds himself intrigued by the conservative young lawyer that gets fiery when he gets under her skin (and doesn't he enjoy getting under her skin!) This is a story of firsts and an exciting journey for both characters. Told from both POVs you really get to understand both characters and their insecurities and the lies they tell themselves.
Emma must enter the tour bus as his legal consultant for the month. While it wasn't love at first sight it was great chemistry, lots of story and fun. These two were fabulous together, you could feel them grow and have real issues that they tackled together. I loved their energy and connection. This is a well balanced, humorous and lovely romance. 4.5 solid stars

Sexy Lies and Rock & Roll by Sawyer Bennett is a stand alone romantic comedy that is a surprisingly fun read. If you love Sawyer Bennett’s storytelling, Sexy Lies and Rock & Roll will not disappoint. I am always happy to get one of Sawyer Bennett’s stories early.
Alex, the Rocker- song writer, has gone out as a solo act. Everyone wants a piece of him or his money. He needs legal help in lots of areas.
Emma is just out of Law School, She loves contract law but that is not what the bohemian firm she is working for does. Out of no where she gets sent to deal with Alex.
The Sexy Lies are the ones Alex & Emma tell themselves, when they seem to see the truth in each other.
Sexy Lies and Rock & Roll has angst that moves the Lies alone. The secondary characters again in Sawyer Bennett’s storytelling are important & interesting. There are hot moments, laugh out loud moments and poignant moments. All of this makes Sexy Lies and Rock & Roll a can’t be put down read. I enjoyed this story. If you have read Sawyer Bennett’s work before you will enjoy this one too. If you have not read her work Sexy Lies and Rock & Roll is a great place to start.

Five Fully Addictive Stars

As a total fan of all things Sawyer Bennett I was so excited to get my hands on this gem. I was hooked from the get-go and pretty much read at every available opportunity. The story follows Evan, rock star in the making, as he navigates the new found fame game whilst dealing with lawsuits, groupies and record deals. When his attorney aunt sends one of her employees, Emma, to help him get out of a sticky situation with the police, no one (except maybe said aunt) could have predicted the fall out of these two complete opposites meeting. I loved the story, the writing (dual POV), the characters (Emma and Evan worked so well together)l. The chemistry between Emma and Evan was just perfect, their complete honesty was refreshing (no mind games). I even loved all the sidekicks, Red, Midge, Cary and even Tyler the jerk all added to the humour, and to the tension, because all said and done there's a little angst in places. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would, I absolutely loved it. I was provided with a copy of this book from the author via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

It is no secret that if Ms Bennett writes a book, this girl is going to read it. Whether it is hockey hotties, cowboys or sexy as sin rock stars, I will devour it.

Evan and Emma's story is a cute one, though at times I couldn't understand Evan's infatuation with her She was so hot and cold to him that I felt that at times it took away from their connection - but this could just be me.

Don't get me wrong, I liked her but she frustrated more than Evan did - and it is usually the rock starts whorish ways that irritate me more than anything! I am not quite sure what it was that made me feel like this though.

I did like the way Evan drew her out of her shell. He could infuriate her more that anyone else, bring out the fire in her.

The star of this book is definitely Emma's dog, Sirius! he is such the unruly puppy that he made me laugh with his antics.

There are some great secondary characters that made this story even better, especially Evan's aunt and Emma's dad.

I felt that we could have learned more about Evan's parents though. There is so much there to know, but we only got a few snippets here and there about them. I also felt that there was more we could have learned about Evan's ex band mates, but things there just seemed to be an easy fix.

But again, this could just be me.

If you are looking for a cute and sweet rock star book, this is the go.

Sexy Lies and Rock & Roll is a funny sweet book by Sawyer Bennett. She really knows how to make a sexy rock star steal your heart. Add in a large puppy, a straight laced lawyer and a tour bus and you have one fun story! This is definitely a lighter read than some of the previous books that have come out but don't think it lacks anything because of that. It is still entertaining and steamy and an overall enjoyable read.

Sawyer Bennett delivers a fun, swoon worthy read in Sexy Lies and Rock & Roll. This was a book that read quick and I sped through it so fast I had to check if it was a novella. The pacing is fantastic as you are whisked away into the lives of Emma and Evan. Sexy Lies and Rock & Roll combines my love of anything surrounding the legal profession and of course a rock star, so I really did get the best of both worlds.

Emma is a quiet wall flower in every sense of the word, she is most at home with her nose stuck in a book whether it be legislative or romance or anything else that catches her eye. Emma keeps herself to herself and is in a job where she isn’t happy but it pays the bills. Emma wants to go into contract law and she is literally biding her time until a better suited job opportunity comes up. Emma lives a lonely existence and it seems that is the way she wants it, with a slobbering puppy and a cat for company she seems happy, but is she?

Evan had a rapid rise to fame after releasing his first hit single as an indie artist. Evan is extremely level headed, humble and not your run of the mill pop star, his parents were not hands on at all and he was raised more or less by his Aunt Midge, who owns the law firm that Emma currently works for. When Evan finds himself in a bit of bother, Midge sends Emma to rescue her nephew…now their paths have crossed, is Midge playing match maker?

Sawyer Bennett delivers a hard-fought romance between these two and it is this battle of wills and chemistry that keeps those pages frantically turning as you will this couple along. Evan and Emma are total opposites in every way but they both have that physical attraction to one and other that could only end up going one way. With Evan being the carefree, fun-loving artist and Emma being the intellectual, boring, prim & proper lawyer he has to fight through her walls and rigidity to discover the hot, passionate and fiery woman underneath…but once she is unleashed these two are SMOKING!!

“Are you going to make love to me, Evan?”
“No, Emma… I’m not. But I am going to eff you and trust me… you’ll prefer it that way.”

Evan is completely smitten with Emma after their first meeting and he does everything in his power to ensure that he is in her company again. With their first meeting, not exactly being very harmonious the chances of that are slim to none so Evan exercises his power as Midge’s nephew to get Emma on his tour bus for a month to do his contract law. With the carrot dangling in front of her being the answers to all her prayers Emma decides to go and now the battle is well and truly on.

“…I love how I can play this body as easily as my guitar…the sounds you make are as beautiful as the music I make.”

These two characters were adorable in every way and this book centres on their relationship from frenemies, to friends and then to lovers. There is a little angst, but nothing over the top and while being a little predictable for an honest romance this hit the spot. Sometimes you just want a quick, easy, hot and steamy read and this one definitely fulfilled that brief. Totally loved it!!
