Product Description

When West Side’s frontman, Quinn Forrester, mysteriously disappeared in 1989, the band’s lead guitarist, Jeff West, suspected foul play. Jeff doesn't know that Quinn was turned into a vampire and walks among us in the dark shadows of New Orleans. Years later, Quinn has reinvented himself as his son to explain why he hasn't aged.

Twenty-five years after Quinn’s sudden unexplained departure from the band, the opening of an art gallery brings Jeff to New Orleans. A beautiful artist, Quinn’s doppelganger son, a vampire tour, mayhem at the gallery opening party, and a series of events convince Jeff vampires could exist. Will Jeff finally uncover the shocking truth in this fast-paced character driven story?

This book is in desperate need of a relationship counsellor. The blurb makes the book sound like it's Jeff's story, but he barely gets a mention. Probably because he hasn't had sex with enough of the other characters to be the focus of this story. His daughter has more page time, having sex with Quinn and his wife (the wife is Quinn's daughter's childhood friend and as someone who gets inappropriate advances from creepy older men, I find this gross. For any men reading this - don't do it. It's creepy. Find someone your own age.) She later hooks up with (one of) Quinn's ex girlfriend's son (I think - everyone was sleeping with everyone else so it was hard to keep track).

I found it a bit hard to suspend disbelief with the vampire details. The author makes it clear that they have reflections in mirrors - of course they do, they have a physical form. But they can also fly, super fast, which if you are being logical, can't be achieved in human form. It just made it hard to believe for me.

Like any good soap opera, there wasn't a lot of plot going on.

4.0 out of 5 stars A slightly different take on vampires 10 May 2017

There are parts about this novel that I enjoyed, but several issues that caused it to be a slow read for me.
Too many different points of view. At times I was a bit confused as to why we were in a new person's head.
The style of writing was more first person, which is not my favorite to read.
The author did a good job at keeping track of her own sub plots and twists, tying them all up nicely, however, for me the story had too many twists and intersections.
At times the story had a more erotic feel, but then it fizzled out. Sex scenes were two lines and then done. I prefer the behind closed doors or the full detailed scene, these fell somewhere in the middle.

These are simply my preferences in reading material. In general it was an entertaining read and if you're not affected by the things I mentioned I believe you'll enjoy this story.

4.0 out of 5 stars A solid vampire tale, but unlike all the others... 19 May 2017

Rock & Roll Vampire... never thought I'd say those terms together in a sentence. But author K. M. McFarland put them together well in this seedy
tale of the vampire subculture of New Orleans. A quick read, and although it meanders at some points with a little too much exposition, and it
teeters on the side of needing an editor's help - it is a good story. This genre isn't usually my cup of tea, but all in all, 3.5-4 star effort.

The author has an interesting way of depicting vampires in her story and I like the refreshing change! The story starts out a little slow, but it's a great story.
