Serving Up Love was a great collection of historical novellas. I loved learning about the Harvey Houses and Harvey Girls. I didn't know anything about them beforehand, so I found it all really interesting. If you're a fan of historical romance, I highly recommend checking out this sweet collection.
A Flood of Love by Tracie Peterson was a story of second chance love between old flames Gretchen and Dirk who get a little help along the way from his rambunctious daughter Katiann. I loved this sweet story and can't believe it's my first time reading anything by Tracie Peterson. It flowed really well and was the perfect length. It didn't feel too short at all. I loved the characters and enjoyed getting to know some real history. (4.5 Stars)
More Than a Pretty Face by Karen Witemeyer was a novella of overcoming the past and embracing hope and the future God has planned. I had a hard time connecting with the characters in this one, but the story had a good message and, in the end, I liked it. (3 Stars)
Intrigue a la Mode by Regina Jennings was so much fun! I pretty much loved everything about it. The characters were wonderful, the mystery was intriguing, and I loved the undercover elements. It's my first book by this author and I'm really excited to check out some of her other books. This was a prequel to Jennings' new series and you can be sure that the first book is high on my wish list. (5 Stars)
Grand Encounters by Jen Turano was an entertaining and hilarious read that had me doubled over in laughter numerous times. I can always count on Turano's books to brighten my day and bring a smile to my face. This one did just that. It was pretty much perfection. (5 Stars)

On the Menu for These Ladies?
Adventure, Independence, and a Big Serving of Romance!
A storied part of American history, Harvey Houses offered women a unique chance to gain independence and see amazing parts of this great country. Celebrated historical romance writers Tracie Peterson, Karen Witemeyer, Regina Jennings, and Jen Turano offer four fun, romantic tales of Harvey girls whose western adventures lead to love.
Tracie Peterson - A Flood of Love
Returning home to New Mexico for the first time in years to fill in at the Harvey House, Gretchen Gottsacker is sure the past is behind her. But nothing can be that simple. When the man she loved long ago steps back into her life--with a daughter, no less--will she ever be the same?
Karen Witemeyer - More Than a Pretty Face
Rosalind Kemp becomes a Harvey Girl, clinging to the promise of one day transferring even farther west, someplace her youthful indiscretion won't catch up to her. But the past is hard to escape, and when the worst occurs, will anyone stand up for her?
Regina Jennings - Intrigue a la Mode
When Willow Kentworth is warned that strange things are happening in the railyard after dark, she never intends to get involved. That is, until a handsome new employee at the Harvey House--who has secrets of his own--needs her assistance.
Jen Turano - A Grand Encounter
After her fiancé abandons her, Miss Myrtle Schermerhorn flees New York's pity for a position at the El Tovar Hotel on the rim of the Grand Canyon. She's determined to hold fast to her life of independence--but a rugged, frequent guest of the hotel makes that vow difficult to uphold.
"In this enjoyable and revealing four-in-one historical novella collection, four well-loved inspirational authors present satisfying tales of romance. . . Each story is rich in emotional development, while the tensions between characters of different social classes makes for delightfully complex dramas of upstairs-downstairs relationships."--Booklist

Delightful collection of stories based on Harvey House girls

A Flood of Love by Tracie Peterson
Gretchen is back in San Marcial, not that she wanted to be. Filling in as housemother and waitress, she comforts herself with only being there a couple weeks. Meeting Katiann is delightful, but Dirk brings up things long since buried. Great story about the bustling railroad town, and I also enjoyed the historical snippet the author shared at the end of the story. This is set solely in San Marcial Texas.
More Than a Pretty Face by Karen Witemeyer
Rosalind has worked for Harvey House for 5 years and is looking to head west to California. Instead, she’s been transferred to Santa Fe. Caleb is a lawyer with a mother who has someone of high class for him to marry. He’s settled his sights lower than she’d like. A story that draws you in quickly, with Rosalind being seen in a previous series set, and a nice addition with Caleb, Callie, Hank and a few others. Engaging story that will leave you with a sigh at the end.
Intrigue a la Mode by Regina Jennings
Willow works hard to keep the expectations of Harvey House, and be able to send money to her family. Graham, decides it’s time to play busboy to investigate some strange happenings on the railroad and find out why this Harvey House in Emporia is having troubles keeping employees. Smitten with Willow right away, along with him forgetting he can’t talk his normal way keep him more in the spotlight than he wants. Great story, with these characters being rounded out by Etta Mae, Mrs. Skyes, Marlowe, Calista and Willow’s family.
A Grand Encounter by Jen Turano
Myrtle left New York high society after a broken engagement and wound up in El Tovar Harvey House in Arizona. Jack has been dining there for months, and is rather taken with her. Thing is, he’s never really talked to her. His brother tries to speed things along. In typical fashion for this author, we have chuckles coming up quickly as these two start getting to know each other. They are joined by delightful supporting characters in Walter, Ruthanne, Opal, as well as Myrtle’s youngest sister and parents. Set primarily at El Tovar, we get a quick glimpse of Chicago and Newport as well.

Sweet Group of Romance Novellas
Reviewed in the United States on 23 November 2019Verified Purchase
What a sweet group of novellas! This collection is filled with amazing authors, and each has written an adorable little romance. I really enjoyed learning about the Harvey House girls throughout the decades, and especially how each had its own setting. This is a great group of stories, the romances are cute, the characters fun, and of course the shorter story-lines make for nice afternoon reads, and a series I highly recommend.

Loved it, but some more than others
Reviewed in the United States on 16 November 2019Verified Purchase
I enjoyed this collection but I did like some more than others. My absolute favorite was Ms Witemeyer’s book. It helped that I had read another book with this character in it, so it felt like visiting a friend. But the others were good, just not my favorite!
