This was such a powerful, and heart wrenching tale. I so love Carmine and Haven, and all the others. There were times I really couldn't stop the tears, especially when Carmine and Haven were apart, that was just tearing me up.

I love the emotional development of this story, and the character development. I didn't like the violence and nasty stuff, however, it did add to the tension and pull of the story.

No problem recommending this story, go and read it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific Book 18 December 2013

I love these books. I originally read the fanfiction (all 2000 pages of it!) and loved it. I was sort of dreading reading Sempre, because I loved it so much and didn't want the storyline to change. Well she did a wonderful job and I loved it.

I have to admit, I was really a bit nervous to read Redemption. I knew what happened in the fanfic, and I knew she wrote this one when she got publishers, and well, publishers sometimes mess with a good thing. Totally not the case. Sooo glad she was able to keep with her vision.

The things that were different from the fanfic, I'm actually VERY happy about. VERY. Especially events towards the end.

The author has a way with being able to humanize the "bad guy" and make us sympathetic towards them and understand their mentality. It's amazing. I shouldn't be rooting for Corrado and Vincent, yet there I was, keeping my fingers crossed the whole time. I felt Carmine's agony in his choice and his new life. But most of all, I felt all the emotions of Haven. There aren't many books where I am able to really feel what the character feels throughout a book (or series). This one I can.

So, in an effort not to ruin the book for anyone, I'll end it there. It's such a good book, worth every penny.
5.0 out of 5 stars "You were worth it" 2 May 2017

Oh, my heart! These characters have such an imprint on my heart and soul! Loved every single chapter and word from this story. The absolute heartache that not only for Carmine and Haven experience but Corrado! Holy balls I love this man! His take-no-nonsense attitude is so badass and I know his heart is good. His delivers tough love lessons to Carmine but has his soft spots and those names are Haven and Celia.
And the void that Carmine and Haven felt...I felt it too! I love books that create such real emotions like that. I really don't want to spoil anything but certain moments elicited such feelings. Like ugly cry feelings. Just take the spoon and dig into my chest because this heart can't take it! Just kidding!
Really love this author and I will devour anything she writes!
5.0 out of 5 stars A terrific follow up to Sempre 16 August 2014

We pick right up where Sempre left us and all is not well in Carmine & Haven's world. Carmine had to make some difficult choices in Sempre that will impact the rest of his life. In order to fulfill his obligation to "la familia" he must move from his home in North Carolina to Chicago to work for the "boss" Salvatore and his godfather. He does not want Haven to be a part of the life that he is forced to live. He wants Haven to enjoy her freedom, something she has never had in her short life. He sacrifices himself to get her that freedom and he'll take the pain of losing her in order to make sure she has a better life.

In the meantime, Uncle Corrado has survived a near death experience and comes back to the mob life a changed man. I love Corrado! He's scary, intimidating - a man of few words, a cold blooded killer and a sexy beast to boot. Vincent DeMarco is going through some heavy issues as well. Due to his arrest and pending trial, he loses his job at the hospital in North Carolina and is wrapped up in the pending trial and at the same time, he has to watch as his son takes on a role in the family that he never wanted for him.

Most of the book is spent where Haven and Carmine are apart. I am happy when Haven finally starts to try and live her dream and attend art school in New York. She's going through the motions of her life, but her heart is still broken over Carmine leaving her.

Again, I couldn't pull myself away from this book. Where will our characters end up? Surely, something big and bad is going to happen. If you read Sempre, you simply have to continue and find out the rest of story. It's worth it - I promise you! An awesome and memorable ride - thank you J.M.!

This surpasses the five star rating. Its truly in a category of its own and rightfully so. Get your tissues ready because you will cry some ugly tears. Snot nose, blurry eyed vision tears. Both of from joy, out of elation, grief, struggle, mourning, the bad and anything else in between. The acknowledges will even make you cry. Come prepared!

Carmine, I want to give you a big fat mother*effing kiss and slap you upside your head! Haven, I wanna wrap you up in the biggest bear hug ever heard of in the history of bear hugs, I'm talking Guinness World Records here! I don't know what I'm going to do now that your story is complete. Corrado! I'm pretty sure that you are real! More than just a fictional character but I could say the same about Vincent, Haven, Carmine, Celia, Maura and many more. I can't wait to read that story! By the way, why do Vincent's always end up with this sort of fate? ALL characters that I've read named that have come to the same conclusions. I'm brokenhearted with the turn of events but found it necessary to find solace in the end.

I just absolutely LOVED these books (Sempre and Sempre: Redemption) I'd recommend them a million times over. They are a must read. I'm going to be going back many times to revisit these characters. The heroine is strong, the hero is honorable and the side-characters are lovable. (The important ones anyways, we love to hate the others!)

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!! 6 May 2016

Wow! This book......... there are really no words to describe how this made me feel. Carmine and Haven are one of my favorite book couples ever. This book was different than I was expecting, things I didn't want to happen did happen. I had to actually take a break from reading because I got so upset about a certain event but then I couldn't stop thinking about it when I put it down. I've had dreams about this book for the last two nights - I can't get this story out of my head. I think this author is brilliant - to have a story take over someones life the way this one has mine - that I'm loosing sleep thinking about these characters and what's going to happen - I just think that really shows how talented this author is. I loved this book, I loved this series and I can't wait to read whatever this author writes next!
