This was an enjoyable story. It resembles a traditional Harlequin/Silhouette book, which is a genre I enjoy if it’s well written, and this book is well written and extremely well edited.
The characters are warm and engaging. The hero’s brother is loveable and charming, while the hero and heroine are both likeable and responsible. There are some humorous moments, as well as poignant ones, all of which flesh out the characters and make them human. The author ably conveys the sense of loneliness that some of her characters experience prior to finding love, and it is easy to relate to them.
The book has no swearing but it has a couple of mild sexual scenes. As well, there are sympathetically portrayed gay characters. So rather than give a one star review if these things offend you, simply avoid this book and let the rest of us enjoy it.
There is mild conflict but ultimately, this is just a light, lovely story. It is perfect for reading on a gloomy afternoon and I highly recommend it.
I could not get into this story as much as I would have liked.
Greg is a sour man who is wealthy, but not as wealthy as most people believe. He cares for his younger brother, Samuel, who is slightly learning disabled.
Lana owns are very popular coffee shop. She is a firm believer in supporting causes.
There is a mix up in some ads and Greg meets Lana and mistakes her for a lady of the evening. She injures him and he can’t forget her.
Both Greg and Lana are in a property battle. He wants to develop a large area of the city. She prefers to keep her shop where it is and not change anything.
It has a been long time since I read anything by Ms Bond. She is humorous and that is something I like a great deal.
Normally, I am interested in the characters she creates. This time the only two people I really loved were Samuel and Annette, the girl he comes to love. They are sweet together.
I just could not believe the idea of Lana and Greg. I am sure that is just me.
Maybe next time I will be more in the mood for a book like this.
