A native of rural central Maine, Janet Chapman (1956–2017) lived in a cozy log cabin on a lake with her husband, three cats, and a stay young bull moose. The author of the hugely popular Highlander time-travel series, she also wrote numerous contemporary romances.

para romance, is a series, should read them all, not great not bad, just a sat afternoon read with typey charectors, warriors, strong women etc. her new spin off series is much better.

This story is vividly told and goodly crafted, meaning it has a storyline starting at the beginning and ending at the end (with is not given in any book) and has a comprehensible plot with not much flaws. Seeing that I furthermore like the way Chapman writes, the phrasing of this book receives five stars.
The plot itself is nothing special. The magical part is good constructed though.
The following text shows my personal oppinion on this book and contains information about the story, that might SPOIL you're reading adventure.
The sexual/loving relationship of the hero and heroine began before the book begins. The actual story begins with a pregnant heroine. She is hurt, because after she had told the hero of the child, he rejected her. He has his plausible causes and she forgives him without much fuss later in the story. The romance therefore is lacking and not as satisfactory as I had wished. The romantic part receives three stars.
The story is not really suspenseful either. The villain is not really present, there is no struggle or fight between good and bad or heroes and villain and since this is romantic suspense it is obvious that it would have a happy end. Therefore the suspense part of the story is lacking and receives three stars as well.
The story is nothing special but it's a vividly told and goodly crafted one nonetheless and a light read for a free day or evening.

Janet Chapman told the best stories. I read her books many years ago and she has since passed away. The library only carries a couple of them anymore but these are still wonderful books and I’m working my way through all of them again. Her family has completed her last work and I believe it will be released this year. Maybe I will have completed my collection of all of them and be ready for the final book. There is no gore and hard core sex but these are love stories with an actual plot.
