The legend of Sleepy Hollow has been told in books and films since 1820. This is a queer retelling of the story by Andi Marquette.
Abby Crane is a direct relative of the missing Ichabod Crane from the legend. A historian researching both the legend and her family heritage, Abby travels to Sleepy Hollow to view the documents and to see if she can find what happened to Ichabod after he disappeared.
Legend has it that Ichabod Crane disappeared at the same time the headless horseman made an appearance in Sleepy Hollow. The letters of Ichabod's beau, Katrina van Tassel, revealed her relationship with Ichabod, but also her eventual betrothal to another suitor, Abraham van Brunt. Abby's research at the local historical society museum lead her to see a wider range of possibilities than that told in the storybooks.
Fascinated with her new theories is Katrina, the direct descendant of Katrina van Tassel. Acting as local guide, Katrina and the researcher Abby hit it off, perhaps as well as their relatives from the legend.
Marquette handles the new romance of Abby and Katrina well, and weave the historical facts well with the more modern story. This is all seamlessly handled by Marquette, and it was a delight as well as fascinating.
