Even better!

There is only one cosy murder mystery writer whose books can make me stay In the bath till the water has gone cold and I haven’t even noticed - H. Y. Hanna. If one of her books arrives on my Kindle (they are always pre-ordered from the minute they are announced), it doesn’t matter what I’m reading, I have to stop and switch to H. Y. Hanna’s latest. I don’t read the Bewitched series, not my thing, but the Oxford Tearooms series, and now the Barefoot Sleuth series, are the very best cosy mysteries - perfect entertainment without all the sex and violence and foul language used to sell many books. This one is even better than the first book in the Barefoot Sleuth series, and that takes some doing. I won’t go into the plot, because others will do that. There are other top-class cosy murder writers - I love Agatha Frost’s Peridale books for example, but H. Y. Hanna is the best.

Another great read

Ellie is still enjoying her holiday with her Aunt Olive in the Florida resort where there is now a Key Lime competition going to take place with a celebrity in place to judge it. All does not go to plan and another murder ensues. The resort chef used to be in partnership with the celebrity judge so at first he seems to be the main suspect and with the antics of the mischievous resort cat Mojito and the macaw Hemmingway Ellie sets out to investigate on behalf of the resort owner. HY Hanna does not disappoint and this time I was taken by surprise as to who the murderer actually was. A book that you find hard to put down.

A fun summer read

20 something Ellie, is a temp worker in London. When aunt Olive, a mystery writer who also happens to be quite well off, and is spending the winter at a fancy all-inclusive resort in Florida, invites Ellie to spend a few weeks with her over the Christmas holidays, all expenses paid, what girl could turn down such an invitation?
When the resort holds its annual key lime pie contest, Ellie is invited to be a guest judge. Things don’t quite work out, when the drunk celebrity judge, drops dead in the middle of the tasting. And there appears to be more than one person with a good reason to bump him off. With the resort’s owner, and aunt Olive’s encouragement, Ellie starts sleuthing, with the help of Mojito, the resort cat, and Hemingway, a sometimes annoying parrot, and a rather sexy resort, house physician.
I already have the next book in this series on preorder, and can’t wait to read when it’s released.

A delightful read!

I found the book enjoyable. The author’s style of writing is such that you are drawn in. The characters are likable. The setting is a gorgeous Florida resort. The plot, while not complex, keeps you interested. It’s a great relaxing read.
P.S. This is the second book in a 4 book new series by the author. After reading the first of the series, I immediately purchased this book. While it is not necessary I would suggest reading the 1st book in the series before this one. I’ve already purchased the 3rd book and preordered the 4th.
