Product Description

She’s so young, so full of life…

I couldn’t let her die…

Even if she made the world’s worst coffee.

Emily Garret never asked to be rescued, let alone by a walking JCrew ad whose idea of fun is probably managing his stock portfolio and watching the nightly news. Then again, she never thought she would wind upside-down in a ditch after a night having a little too much fun.

Reece Montgomery never planned on being anyone’s hero, especially the foul-mouthed, bleach-blonde barista from the local coffee shop. He thinks there’s more to Emily than her tattoos, and lip ring, but getting close means letting her into his past and meeting his ghosts.

And he’s not sure she’s ready for that battlefield.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gibsen never disappoints! 1 July 2016

This book is even better than Written on My Heart, if you can believe it! The author writes the characters in a way that long after finishing the book, you find yourself wondering how they're doing and what's happening with them. Real-world issues are addressed, giving these characters even more life. I hope there will be another chapter!
5.0 out of 5 stars Gibson has a way of writing a story so that it really pulls you in, you're part of it. 19 February 2017

Gibson has a way of writing a story so that it really pulls you in, you're part of it. I think it's because it's so realistic, not full of fluffy fiction but seems to revolve more around real life. Just like all of her other books, I absolutely loved Seared on my Soul!

4.0 out of 5 stars both trapped in a painful past, one with a drinking problems 28 June 2016

This story is about two broken souls that found each after one tragic night ; and in doing so, they were changing their future, they were about to fight their demons together and heal each other.

This is not a fairy tale, nor a fictional story in my opinion (is a much realistic one at that). Emily and Reece are two broken souls, both trapped in a painful past, one with a drinking problems, depression, and self-esteem issues, while the other battling with PTSD and anxiety.

I really enjoyed this fast-paced read. The chemistry between Emily and Reece was very palpable. However, I couldn't connect with Emily for most part of the book.

Review:
For so many years we've heard the news reports and the personal stories of the soldiers who came back from their latest tour in Afghanistan and some of them are far from being the 'happily ever after' we'd like to believe. So many are left without the necessary care for PTSD, for their basic needs after their injuries and even the lack of financial support to help them tide them over until they can find a new job since many go into retirement or the reserves after their tours. That isn't to say that it happens to each and every soldier that is sent overseas, but it does happen and too often. In Seared On My Soul by Cole Gibson, we meet battle scarred veteran Reece who goes to the coffee shop like clockwork every day and takes notice of Emily, the barista who hides behind her tattoos and piercings. Both hide from their own pain and past their own way: Reece keeps himself estranged from his family, and Emily parties hard and enjoys her one night stands. However, their paths cross when Emily makes one wrong decision and her life is in peril, forcing Reece to decide if he'll get involved or not. The moment his decision is made, their lives are intertwined, the two slowly get to know each other, they realize there is more than meets the eyes when it comes to one another and that looks can be deceiving.
Reading through this novel, I was surprised at the level of emotions that I felt each time I discovered something new about either Reece or Emily - the trials they go through are heartbreaking and how they surpass them to become eve strong and their eventual relationship gave me hope that even the most 'broken' of people can heal and find happiness once again. Cole Gibson has written a beautiful story where the chemistry between Reece and Emily is undeniable, they seem to be made for one another and the bedroom scenes aren't the hottest I've seen/read, but I did get into them and enjoyed them. This being the first novel I've read by Cole Gibson, I'm wildly curious to know what else she has published and her upcoming releases since I really did enjoy the novel and would highly recommend to other readers.
