Sea to Summit dry bags are fast becoming my only choice for keeping my general gear and my expensive camera equipment protected from the elements. I prefer to use these dry bags as liners for standard back packs rather then buying specific camera bags which just advertise to everyone that I have expensive camera gear. not ideal when traveling as it is just a camera bags are just an advertising banner for all thieves and muggers and other people that want to do you harm. In this way you always have a fully waterproof liner in your back packs just match the bag to the size of the main compartment of your back pack or holdall. The multitude of sizes always you to divide you bag inner into multiple compartments. With maybe the items you wish to get to quickly in a smaller bag at the top. The straps are also a useful addition and seem well made and strong although I have not actually used them to lash the bags to the top of a canoe or roof of a car. I have full confidence that they will be as strong as the lashings that are used. I used a smaller 20L bag as an inner for my day pack when walking the inka trial in Peru. 8 hours of pouring heavy mountain rain later my camera equipment and anything else contained within the dry bag was completely dry, whilst everything else outside the dry bag was wet.
The day bag I personally used whilst trekking in Peru and still use on a regular basis is a camelback Maxium: latest product detailed here
