About the authors
Henry began his first writing career in comic books. He spent the 1980s writing and publishing the superhero title Southern Knights, and the space and time-travel, caper comedy title Aristocratic Xtraterrestrial Time-Traveling Thieves. Along the way, he became the first comics professional online. A crash in the independent comic book market ended his comic book writing career.
In 2006, Henry became a performing storyteller. He has performed all across his home state of North Carolina, and has entertained thousands with his tales.
In 2012, Henry returned to writing, this time in the genre he's read throughout his life. He grew up reading science fiction, and his love of space opera and sword & planet stories is what drives him to write similar stories. Henry writes stories filled with action, adventure, and a touch of romance. They're stories he would want to read, and Henry hopes you enjoy reading them as much as he enjoyed writing them.

In science fiction circles, Bruce Bethke is best known either for his 1980 short story, “Cyberpunk,” his 1995 Philip K. Dick Award-winning novel, HEADCRASH, or lately, as the editor of the STUPEFYING STORIES anthology series and driving force behind RAMPANT LOON PRESS. What very few people in the SF world have known about him until recently is that he actually began his career in the music industry, as a member of the design team that developed the MIDI interface and Finale music notation engine (among other things), but now works in supercomputer software R&D, doing work that is absolutely fascinating to do but almost impossible to explain to anyone not already fluent in Old High Unix and well-grounded in massively parallel processor architectures, Fourier transformations, and computational fluid dynamics.
In his copious spare time he runs Rampant Loon Press, just for the sheer love of genre fiction and the short story form.

This isn't the second time--that was Martin Bane's arrrival.
Nor is it the third time--David Rice!
But David Rice's buoy got out through the wormhole, and pirates have come seeking the plunder of the entire world, for this new-come spaceship has enough firepower to crush any and all opposition. And so it must be stopped at the beginning. High cunning and skill must match against low cunning and depravity. And even then, this is only one pirate ship--the base must be taken, from the pirates, and from those loyal to them.
Will the pirates fall? Will the galactics be able to come in so that the colony is no longer lost?
For fast-paced action, and characters of integrity, read this series!

Fortunately Henry Vogel has not yet written the seventy odd novels that Burroughs produced, because if he had I would not be reading anything else this year not written by Vogel. What a treasure!
Like Burroughs Vogel doesn't seem to be capable of writing a boring word. Every one of his books is a gem, this one included. I'm not going to say that I like Vogel's novels better than ERB's, but I read those books four decades ago, and for my money Vogel currently writes the most entertaining stories in the genre! Sure hope he keeps going for seventy odd additional books.
