In a small town where everyone knows everyone else's business, how will two people who are starting their lives over move past the gossip and rumors to find happily ever after?

After the death of her husband, Jacqui Edwards tried to move on with her life in Florida. After she returned to Montana to pack her belongings and sell the house, she decided she just can't leave. This did not go over so well with Vincent Kingston, who was in the process of fixing up the house and had already planned on buying it. Vin had been living with Jacqui and her husband Russ before Russ's tragic death. Vin and Russ were best friends and worked together as fire fighters and Vin still had a hard time coming to terms with how Russ died.

Vin knew Jacqui was off limits. But he was having a hard time fighting the attraction that grew stronger with each day that they spent together under the same roof. Jacqui had never been with another man except for her husband, so the feelings she had towards Vin were all new and she really didn't know how to go about moving on with him. When she finally gave in, it was well worth the wait.

I enjoyed this story quite a bit. The characters were written really well and the story was very descriptive. I can't wait for more Firefighters of Montana books.

When the former captain and Jacqui's husband Russ died while doing his job as a Smokejumper, she flees Glacier Creek for Florida and the comfort of her family. Planning to start over in Florida, Jacqui comes back to Montana to settle her affairs, including selling the house to Vin, Russ's best friend and the only one she kept in touch with. When she realizes she won't be happy anywhere else, she decides to stay. Jacqui's staying throws everything in Vin's world off kilter, and when he realizes his attraction is not one-sided, Vin has a lot of guilt to work through. There is so much to this story and it takes some time for Vin to realize that some things weren't as they seemed.
The characters were well-developed, and I could feel myself rooting for Jacqui and Vin's relationship. This book can be read as a stand alone, but I also enjoyed how both this and the first book in the series crossed with their details.

Book two in the Firefghters of Montana series, Scorch is every bit as fast paced as Smolder. The series enables readers to get to know peripheral characters, but each story stands alone just fine. With two to three hours of story between the covers they make for perfect Saturday afternoon reading.
Scorch is a story of second chances both for Jacqui, widow of Russ Edwards, the highly regarded former captain of the Glacier Creek smokejumpers, and Vin, his best friend.
This story has plenty of angst as both Jacqui and Vin come to grips with their relationships to Russ and to each other. Of course there is also plenty of action, and if you're into toned, muscular male physiques you'll find enough to fire your imagination.
I was amazed at the amount of information that was packed effortlessly between the first page and the last. Dani Collins has done a rip snorting good job here and I just loved it.

Yet another hit by Dani Collins. I loved this book. Jacqui and Vin are so good together. Vin was her husband's best friend who, became friend and support to her after his death. When she returns home to tie up loose ends, they are confronted by an undeniable attraction. They both struggle with grief and guilt as their feelings for each other deepen - it's an emotional read that ends in a HEA they both deserve.

This was a very emotional and hot story. Jacqui is back after grieving the loss of her husband. Vin is her friend, and one of her husband's smoke jumpers. There is plenty of emotional drama in the battle between loyalty to the dead, and admitting current feelings and chemistry.
I was brought nearly to tears several times while reading this story. Wonderful lead characters that I got way too attached to.
