Now Gemma finds herself apron-deep in a mystery with unexpected links to Oxford University. And her own student days there come back to haunt her when the handsome CID detective leading the case turns out to be her old college flame. With the nosy “Old Biddies” from the local village meddling at every turn and her baker’s cheeky cat terrorising her kitchen, Gemma is beginning to find herself in a real jam…
Murder is bad for business, especially when customers think your scones are more deadly than delicious. With the body count rising and her tearoom going bust, can Gemma find the killer before her future turns to custard?

Every bit as good as the first book in the series'Tea with Milk and Murder'. Hopefully there will be more than two, because the writer has created a good amateur detective, an excellent setting (a tea-room in Oxford from which she sets out to solve murders) and plenty of suspects which will have you changing your suspicions from one character to another as you read on. Amazon have this as an offer with the first book, and I recommend that you read Tea with Milk and Murder first, as it sets the scene for this book.

This is the story of a tea -shop - and a woman who turns her back on the fast life to cater for the tourists in a small Oxfordshire Tea Shop.
Now for me, this story had overtones of Midsummer Murders.
scone
The village described sounded just like one that the TV show would have used including the requisite nosy old biddies thinking they were a reincarnation on Miss Marples. Even down to the location as Midsummer Murders is set in the Chilterns and Oxfordshire.
But we added in Oxford university politics and rivalries and people hiding their true nature.
Overall not an exciting read but fun and very familiar to me but I didn't guess the identity of the killer so for that I must give it 4 stars.

Gemma's new business seems to be going well, the tea room is busy and the cakes Fletcher bakes go down a treat with the customers.
After a particularly trying day with an awkward customer, Gemma is pleased to close up ready for the next day. Little dies she know it will be the last good day for a while! As she opens up the next morning she finds one of the customers from the day before, dead in a chair at one of the outside tables.
Add in the fact her previous boyfriend is now a local police detective and has been assigned to the case; the old biddies who are i tent on 'helping' solve the case, and the mischevious little tabbly cat Muesli, and you have the ingredients for a cosy mystery.
I'm looking forward to the next books in the series.
