Product Description

Book 1 in a brand-new Regency series by Christi Caldwell! There once was a gypsy’s pendant said to bring its wearer the heart of a duke. Some found love and others--heart ache. In this passionate series, clever, once-wounded, twice-wary women will find their chance at happily ever after…and maybe even, the heart of a duke!

Schooling the Duke
A lady betrayed:
Finishing school instructor, Mrs. Rowena Bryant is hated by her students, revered by the headmistress, and absolutely determined to maintain her financial security. Deceived years ago by the only man she'd ever given her heart to, Rowena relies on no one but herself—that is the best way to keep her most scandalous secret.

A soldier turned duke:
When Graham Linford returned from war on the cusp of death, he discovered he'd been betrayed by the woman he loved. From that moment, Graham shaped himself into an unfeeling nobleman, refusing to ever suffer the agony of betrayal again. Now a duke, Graham is determined no one will ever discover the touch of madness that has haunted him since battle.

Lovers reunited:
When Graham finds himself named guardian to a young lady, the woman sent as a companion to his ward is none other than Rowena Bryant. With every moment spent together, their passion reignites, and the walls they've built to keep one another out begin to crumble. But when their dark past tests them again will true love be enough to repair their damaged hearts?

Every time I read one of Christi Caldwell's books, I think she has outdone herself. This was no exception! I felt frustration, anger, heartbreak, hope and love reading this book. I'm off to go and read it again right now!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lost Love Found 8 April 2017
By Diane D - Published on Amazon.com

Every time I review a Chrisi Caldwell book I always thing this is her best book yet and then I read the next one. Well this is the best. Christi manages to take a story of young lovers separated by family and create an amazing story of older (~30) people finding each other and finding their was back to love. This book has every character type - an imperious Duke who only cares for his legacy, an illegitimate heroine who is forced to leave her home and family, a wounded soldier who thinks his love has abandoned him, a traitorous friend, and a feisty, independent ward who brings everyone together.
The narrative is smart and the characters well written. This book had places where I laughed but more where I cried. You can't help but feel for the two main characters Rowena and Graham and all they have lost because of the meddling of those closest to them. If this is the first book in the series, I can't wait to see what comes next.

2.0 out of 5 stars Frustrating! 6 May 2017
By Tea&BookLover - Published on Amazon.com

At the beginning of this book, I was loving it. Then she started rehashing the same stuff going on in both characters' minds. OVER and OVER again-throughout the whole book!! I can't even remember how many times I rolled my eyes and said out loud "Again?! I KNOW!!" I was so tired of this book by the time I was done with it. Plus I wanted to slap Rowena for being so obstinate.

Teachers tell writing students continually to SHOW, NOT TELL but this is what repeatedly happens all throughout the book. We are hit over the head with the same dang information-telling not showing. I was so bored and frustrated after the very beginning of this book. What could have been a great book ended up dreadful.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another winner for Christi Caldwell! 11 April 2017
By L.O.D - Published on Amazon.com

You can't go wrong with a Christi Caldwell book and " Schooling the Duke". Is another winner. You might ask why I did not give it 5 stars, it's just that I thought it was a bit repetitive when the H and h where remembering the past.
Besides that it was great! I did not want to put it down, Graham and Rowena where wonderful characters that went to so much because of the mean spirited people that were supposed to loved them best, if I have a complaint is that to me the villains in the book did not seem to get what they deserved, and in the villain category in my opinion the worst offender was Rowena's mother I just can't understand a mother that was supposed to love her daughter could do that to her when the daughter was totally innocent of any wrong doing she was being punished for her mothers sins so in short I hated the mother sorry I'm venting but in my point of view she was disgraceful.

The story has a bit of everything that makes a romance book good, a romantic relationship interrupted by villains ( plural ) it has angst and grief but you put up with it because you know that love will conquer all in the end, a great H and h and Ainsley who was very likable and she brings levity to the story even though her life has not been easy. I can't wait for her book I hope she gets one soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars True love is forever 8 April 2017
By Kindle Customer - Published on Amazon.com

Did you have that one true love, and it slipped away? Did the world and evil people interfere and cause you pain? Did the stars align and you had another chance? Once again, Christi Caldwell spins a Web of love, loss, pain, cruelty and redemption. Her characters are so well developed. She introduces us to the pain of having no control over your birth and of finding a way to rise above society's ignorance. A true winner.
4.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful story of redemption and second chances 11 April 2017
By Shawna Wood - Published on Amazon.com

Schooling The Duke is a heartbreakingly beautiful read. Graham and Rowena story will pull in for the prologue and you will weep, shout and cheer as they deal with their past in order to make a way for their future.

Rowena is a lady who I could identify with. When we are young, we are naïve and believe nothing is impossible. We think nothing can really touch us. Rowena soon learns that life can be hard, cruel and unfair. she, like most of us, are soon forced to find a way in new world. Rowena is a lady full of strength and even though she built walls to protect herself, she refused to lay down and give up. Though she was scared and hurt by the nastiness in life, she was still a women to be admired, for she refused to let her past completely control her.

Graham was a classic Caldwell hero, While Rowena did not let life beat her down, Graham allowed his broken heart to define his existence. He allowed it to frame everyone decision and choice he made for over a 10 years. He let it be a festering wound in his otherwise empty existence.

There is no easy reconciliation between these two lovers. To much hurt and pain have passed for them to fall into each other. They both have to face their demons and learn to forgive themselves for believing the lies of others so easily. Their journey is not only reconciling the folly of their youth, but to get to learn who they are as adults.

The story also includes one of the most wonderfully delicious villain Christi has ever created to date. This character will smile to your face, while they plunge a knife in your back. Such a deliciously evil and manipulative character that you will love to hate.

You won't be able to resist Graham and Rowena's journey to reclaim their past from the manipulation of others and the mistakes of their youth.
