Product description

Product Description

The use of the phrase life is hard has become so diluted, so overstated through the years that when someone hears it the words go in one ear and out the other. The impact is no longer there. The meaning, the importance of that phrase no longer holds any water with those it's spoken to.

Freya Linden's life became hard at the age of seventeen, the summer before her senior year of high school. The bright colors of her life faded into black and white, a colorless shell full of loneliness.

Until she met him.

Parker Owens breathed life back into her world. With him she began to heal. But happiness isn't a guarantee. Sometimes opening yourself up only leads to more heartbreak. The person she thought to be her saving grace shattered her completely.

Her story isn't a pretty one. The bumps in the road were monumental and infinite. But it's her story. And the one thing that holds true is this: despite the hardships, she made it through to the other side.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Lessons Yet to Be Learned. 7 March 2016
By Teri Caiazzo - Published on Amazon.com

Freya Linden was a 17-year-old and few months away from starting her senior year in high school, she took dance classes in school to please her mom. She just got out of practice and was waiting for her mother to pick her up outside of school, when her friends asked her if she was sure she didn't want a ride home. she said no, her mother should be there shortly. They lived in Chicago, and hearing sirens, whether from police cars, fire trucks or ambulance was just part of living in a big city. After 20 minutes of waiting she became more than a little worried and tried to reach her mother by her cell, but it went to her voicemail. Then the bad news came, her mother had a head on collision with a drunk driver, she passed away six days later without ever regaining consciousness in the hospital. She was devastated, her father threw himself in his work, and home life s she knew it, was forever different.
When Freya came home one day, her father informed her he sold the house, and they were moving to Washington, he didn't let her know ahead of time, and didn't ask her what she thought of the idea. They moved into a house he bought, which was overlooking a beach, and when they got there, she went to the beach,to sit a watch the sunset. That was where she met Parker Owen her neighbor, and a boy her age. Unbeknownst to either of them at that time, Parker and Freya had similar problems, that would help them to understand what life was like, and to find happiness wherever they could find it.
I loved this book, I was actually sad when it ended, but it taught me a lot also. No matter how old or young you are, enjoy each day, make it count, and make memories, for yourself and for those around you that you love. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. Happy reading!

5.0 out of 5 stars breathtaking new adult novel! 28 April 2015

Scattered Colors is my first book by Jessica Prince but certainly not my last. She has a writing style that feels effortless. Her words are beautiful, fluid, and poignant, tugging on a place deep inside of me until I couldn’t help but lose myself in this story. Scattered Colors is the quintessential New Adult novel. Parker and Freya’s journey is colored by loss and splashed with heartache as they both navigate their inimitable connection and intense feelings. Jessica Prince has crafted characters that exude life, filling the pages with their vibrancy and emotional honesty. Despite their warring emotions, Parker and Freya understand each other on a profound level that gives them an undeniable kinship you just can’t ignore.

Freya is my favorite type of female character. She’s broken, vulnerable, and struggling to accept the hand life has dealt her, but underneath the broken pieces there is an unmistakable fighter. She’s strong and feisty and fiercely protective of her friends and that makes her someone you can’t help but adore. Jessica Prince gave this character obvious flaws and fears that infused this character with an unquestionable authenticity, allowing for readers to be easily affected by Freya. The chemistry between Freya and Parker started out a tiny spark but the more time they spend around each other the hotter that spark becomes until the fire completely engulfs them. Jessica Prince did a fantastic job bringing to life not only the physical pull between them, but the emotional one as well.

Parker’s fight for Freya was one of my favorite parts of this book. I loved the ferocity with which he pursues her and his unwavering determination to help heal her. His love for her did not overshadow his respect for her, evident in his allowing her space and time to cool-down, process, or accept the constant uncertainty of their young lives. The easy pace and methodical progression of events gave Scattered Colors an addictive quality that had me devouring this book in one sitting. This novel overflows with deep and heartbreaking emotions that will have you feeling every aspect of this story wholly. Scattered Colors is a breathtaking New Adult journey of loss, love, and living that will leave your heart feeling absolutely full.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet story of love and love lost! 17 July 2015
By Shawna - Published on Amazon.com

Scattered Colors is such a beautiful story. The heart warming tale of love and love lost will make you rethink everything. Not only does Prince cover love and love loss between intimate partners, but also between friends and family. The entire book you are reminded that life is too short and we as humans tend to take to much in our short lives for granite. I promise by the last page you will be on edge anxious to call your friends, hug your family, forgive old grudges and/or apologize for past wrongs.

The characters are very complex with interesting back stories. The alternating POV give you an insight to how the main character feel and the struggles they face daily. There are several supporting characters that really make the story pop. I really hope that future books will cover them more as I just fell in love with so many of them, and love to hate a few others.

If you love romance novels that have a plot that drags you in a holds you there.. this is the book for you. You will be consumed, in the best of ways. Can't wait to read more books by Jessica Prince in the future.
