Product Description

Book Two, Mending Scars, is available now at

Kaiya Marlow has always been cautious, precise in every decision she makes. When her dark past threatens to resurface, she decides to take precautions to protect herself by enrolling in self-defense classes at her gym.

Her instructor, Ryker Campbell, is the tattooed womanizer everyone warns about. Kaiya attempts to resist Ryker's advances, but the more time they spend training together, the harder it is for Kaiya to resist him.

Ryker's view on relationships is simple: strictly sex, nothing more. Haunted by demons from his past, he never allows himself to become attached to any woman. No attachment means no weakness, no vulnerability, no pain. He doesn't realize that his whole world is about to be turned upside down when Kaiya enters his self-defense class. Determined to have her, at least for one night, Ryker sets a plan into motion that will change both of their lives forever.

Will love be able to heal their scars, or are they too deep to overcome?

I was captivated by this story with the first chapter it was a very hard book to put down. After reading some of the reviews I was skeptical about purchasing but I'm glad I did.

Sexual abuse is not always an easy thing for anyone to talk about or move on from but the way Nikki has written it with Kaiya having her demons and Ryker helping her every step of the way really captured the emotional turmoil the victim would feel.

All in all a very well .written book with characters you will love.

5.0 out of 5 stars My God, how did she know? 25 March 2014

I write very few review, only when I am very moved. Incest is a very taboo subject that not many writers can address with a good understanding. As a victim of this and I can attest that much of what Ky felt during and after is pretty spot on. I read the first half of the book yesterday then had a nightmare last night, very specific things usually set them off but I guess this book was close enough to reality that it lit them up. I generally only dream about those dark times about twice a year. My abuse ended 23 years ago. I was reading it again tonight and my husband ask me why. I told him that it reminded me our our relationship. I was a broken angry girl when he found me and his love brought me from the brink of self distraction. I used to wonder why he loved me when I didn't even love myself. He was soooo stubborn and refused to let me slip into the abyss. Ryker showd his love over and over before he even realized what it was. True love isn't always hearts and flowers, sometimes it's dirty and gritty and ugly. The most beautiful scar is usually the uglies wound cauterized by love. I will definitely read more work from this author. Very well written, hot emotional intimate scenes and true connection between H&h.

I was given a ARC for my honest opinion.

Holy balls! this book was pretty amazing, unexpected and HOT!!!!!

This book was intense, sad, funny, happy, emotional, sexy, beautiful. It plays on every emotion possible! and you actually learn a thing or two from it, something I never expected. It grips you from the very start and you do not want to stop until it is finished. It takes you on a roller coaster ride with twists and unexpected turns. It will reel you in and you will find it hard to let go.

Kaiya is a damaged and broken girl. She has been through hell and back from the time she was a child. She is trying to put pieces of her life back together and find some sort of semblance of her life.
In walks Ryker Campbell, sex on on legs extraordinaire. He is a personal trainer at the gym Kamden and Ky are at. They meet and they have an instant connection. Ky starts taking some classes that Ryker is the instructor for and slowly they start to give into their connection and feelings. Both are damaged and have demons, trust issues and insecurities they need to overcome. For Ky it isn't easy letting people in, she has her walls up and Ryker is just the one to break each of those walls down. He is the perfect person to teach her how to move on and put those pieces back together. He is amazing! he cares for her and slowly tries to break down her walls and rules, he never pushes her but instead he embraces her and tries to get her to be better and to never stop fighting. But what happens when things around them come crashing down? can these two have fight their demons and have a chance at happiness and a relationship? or will past demons keep them apart and ruin everything they have worked hard for? you will have to read to find out. But let me tell you, AMAZING book and you will NOT be disappointed with this exquisitely captivating story! must read <3

"They won't be dreams for long. I'll have you soon,"

"I'll always save you, Warrior. You just have to let me."

"But one day,I will break each of those rules-one... And you're going to love every second of it when I do."

"You know I'm here for you, Warrior. You don't have to fight alone."

"I don't need you to protect me, Warrior.I just need you."

"I'll help you pick up the pieces if you let me, Warrior. I want to be the one to make you whole again."

"I'll always find my way back to you,"

"You can do this, Warrior. You're one of the strongest people I've ever met. I believe in you."

"I'll bear any scar for you, Ky."
5.0 out of 5 stars I loved the characters 14 July 2014

Quite simply put, I adored this story.

I loved the characters. Kaiya is a Warrior at heart--and Ryker is the only one who recognized is. Kaiya is easy to like and her life has been rather difficult thus far. Ryker is sexy and charming, and for all his faults, he's a good guy deep down inside. When they meet, it's all fireworks and blazing chemistry. Hot, hot, hot.

The secondary characters were great. And by secondary characterS, I really just mean Kamden. He was sexy and strong himself and I'd love to see him get his own story.

The plot is entertaining. I just couldn't turn the pages fast enough. I definitely look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

Kaiya has a pretty damaged past. Wait, that’s an understatement. She has a horrifically, damaged past. For years she was tormented and abused by someone you’d never suspect. Someone that should be your protector, not your abuser. Eight years after the monster has been locked up, she’s still picking up the pieces, holding herself together as best as she can. Honestly though, you can’t put a piece of scotch tape on a hole in a dam. And that’s basically what she has been doing. It’s not until Ryker enters her life that she starts to awaken, starts to realize that living in fear is not living. She wants more, out of life in general and for herself, but she doesn’t know how to be that girl.

Ryker is a womanizing man-whore. He never sleeps with the same girl twice, most of the time he doesn’t even care if he catches their name. He has his own past demons that have turned him into the man he is today. But once Kaiya enters his gym, things drastically change. He can’t explain the attraction he feels toward her or the possessive need to protect her. She gets under his skin, not something that he welcomes at first. He thinks maybe just one taste of her will be enough to rid her from his system. Unfortunately for him, Kaiya isn’t an easy conquest and Ryker will actually have to put in some work to win her. A lot of work.

My heart breaks at the things Kaiya went through. The nightmares and fear she still lives with. She believes she’s damaged beyond repair, keeping everyone, including those closest to her, at arm’s length. She doesn’t fully trust anyone. I really can’t blame her. With what she’s endured, trust would be a huge issue for anyone in her situation. Ms. Narvaez must have had to go to a very dark corner of her mind to conjure the scenes she did. It chills me. When Kaiya is left with the possibility of her tormentor being freed, she finds the courage to learn to defend herself. To her surprise and his, Ryker, of all people, is her self-defense instructor. Over time, Ryker not only builds up her courage to fight, he strips away the walls she’s erected over the years meant to protect herself. Layer by layer, he uncovers and falls hard for the vulnerable girl beneath it all. Piece by piece, she learns to trust someone other than herself.

Kaiya and Ryker bring out the best in each other. They both start to relax the guard around their hearts. Of course things aren’t that easy. And by the time both their heads and hearts are on the same track, it’s almost too late.

I was impressed with the subject matter that the author decided to tackle. I also liked how she went about it. Plus there was NOT A CLIFFHANGER, which I am so thankful for.

The ending of this book was very good. The epilogue was surprising but it tied into the book and it made it more realistic, too. It really helped the ending. I am so glad she included the very ending of who to contact, etc. (I am having a hard time reviewing the book without using spoilers and I refuse to use them.)
The love scenes are extremely HOT and I think they were very well written.
I would of liked to have had more about the issues concerning the Hero and supporting characters. (I so want a book about the brother. That would be so good, plus we could have updates on the H/H's.) But including the supporting characters might have been too much for one book. Maybe one of the next books will have that. As you can tell, I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

I would love to see a web site for this author as I do love the way she thinks and the subjects she writes about.

The cover was gorgeous (oh the Hero is a HOT HUNK) and it made me want this book just so I could look at it when I wanted to. That has never happened before.
I did not see any editing issues. Plus it will be a re-read for me and on my "favorite" shelf, too.

(Do not get this book if you have issues with sexual abuse as that subject is in this book.)
