Top Notch!

Say Goodbye is the scariest book that I have read in a long time - it actually gave me nightmares one night! The story is well written and Ms Gardner has a real talent for writing from different character perspectives. The book is a real page turner and I can't wait until her next book comes out.
The story focuses on a female detective who happens to be pregnant with her first child. This is an interesting change from the usual female detective who is emotionally redundant and then happens to fall in love with her partner who saves her life from her life long enemy. The female lead is married and no doubt has the same conversations with her husband about who (if anyone) should give up work to become the stay at home parent that we've all had.
Apart from the human interest angle, the book tells the story of a very strange individual who has an unhealthy attachment to eight-legged creatures. For anyone who is afraid of spiders (like me) this will certainly get your 'creepy' factor going!
Definitely bedtime reading!

Say Goodbye - Lisa Gardner
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 December 2008Verified Purchase
This is a thriller that stays in your mind long after you have finished reading it. The subject matter is very disturbing - child abduction, sexual, physical and mental abuse and a serial killer. Gardner states she was inspired by real events and she has certainly conveyed the cruelty that can exist and how evil actions of some take place and the consequences of them. In contrast she gives us hope and reminds us of good actions and bravery through the character of Rita.
The use of spiders gives a creepy edge to the thriller and the imagery cleverly describes how others have been caught in the killer's web.
This is well written, with a good moving plot and with the character of Kimberly Quincy remaining a strong believable one as we see her life changing.

I started reading this book while on holiday as it looked the best of a bad bunch in the hotel library. What a surprise! I was gripped from the start. I had never heard of Lisa Gardner.....WHY has she not had more press?
The story is about a killer called 'DINCHARA' an anagram of arachnid, clever huh? Anyway he gets up to all sorts of grim things with spiders, obviously it's more comlpex than this I am not great at reviews. The leading character Kimberley is really likeable too. It's probably not a book for the squeamish but I loved it!
High praise for this author, I have since bought two more of her books.

A real page turner, well written and suspenseful. A lengthy story but well worth the read. Buy it, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Heart breaking book

The main story line is about missing children and a child sex offender. It goes into quite graphic detail, so be aware of this. Not a book for the faint hearted. I have given the book 5 stars as the book was well written with twists to the story i didn't see coming. I am hoping the author picks up with these characters in another book
