Saving Mercy is the first book in the Fatal Truth Series by Abbie Roads. It is so much more than just a paranormal romance- this book will sweep you up into a very edgy, psychological suspense that’s gritty, dark, bloody, graphic, full of action and violence; and will give you a major mind f***……. The author doesn’t gently take your hand and lead you through her story. Oh No- she grabs a hold of you and pulls you in, taking you to the edge, then before you even realise what’s happening, she’s pushed you over the brink and you’re free falling through the story, souped up on adrenaline with your heart in your mouth…… and loving every moment of it!
Cain Killion is 30 years old, a bit of a ‘lone wolf’ and consultant with the FBI. His horrific history has left him with a unique ability that he employs in his ‘profiling’ of murder scenes for the FBI. It’s his connection with blood that makes him so good at what he does. No one else can profile as accurately as him.

“Yeah. There wasn’t a name for what he did. To the bureaucrats with their thumbs jammed up their a**es, Mac called it profiling- had to call it something. But it wasn’t profiling. Not at all. What Cain had to do with blood was something worse than profiling. So much worse.”
“No one else has the history I have. No one else can do what I do. No one else can give you the information I can.” Yeah his Profiles were more accurate, more detailed than anything a traditional profiler could come up with. In the majority of cases, his work guided law enforcement directly to their perpetrator. “It’d be stupid not to call me.” Not to mention he needed to be around the dynamic duo- blood and death. They stripped away his mask of normalcy, leaving him naked to the one truth about himself…..

Cain has a special gift, he can find murderers through a connection with the victim's blood. He isn't proud of what he can do and thinks he is a predator, a monster. He helps the FBI to solve cases, but he doesn't believe in his own goodness. Cain is a product of his father's grooming when he was a child. When a recent crime is being linked to the murders that made Cain's life change forever, Cain knows where to find more information, with Mercy, the only survivor of this crazy deed. Cain thinks he's the last person she wants to see, but he's the only one who can save her life.

Mercy has been a victim countless times, but she knows that as long as the people who are after her won't be able to touch her spirit she will heal. Someone who wants to harm her has locked her up and Cain is the only one who can get her out. Instead of recognizing him as the evil creature he thinks he is, Mercy thinks Cain belongs to her, they are bound by something powerful. While they're being chased they find each other. Do they have a chance together or will the awfulness that keeps following them win after all?

Mercy is strong, determined, selfless and incredibly brave. She's been through a lot, but as long as she's in control of her own mind nobody can break her. When she meets Cain she feels a connection and she can see his core. Both Mercy and Cain have a special gift and they understand one another. I love books about soul mates and Mercy and Cain are fabulous together. Cain is a kind and caring man, but he thinks he's something horrible on the inside. Mercy makes him aware of who he really is and I admired her for that. She protects Cain as much as he protects her and their bond is beautiful.

Cain Killion has a gift or is it a curse? He is able to connect with blood in a way no one else can. His connection to blood allows him to help authorities solve murders but at what cost to him? He has lived his life in the shadow of his father. A father who is pure evil. Cain is called to a murder to help investigate in only the way he can but what he sees at the crime scene brings his past slamming back to him. A past that no one should have ever had to witness but what he sees means he needs to talk to the one person he never wanted to see face to face, the one person who knows what it means. Cain is faced with saving her from one horror to another. He is the only one who can save her and he will stop at nothing to make that happen.

Mercy Ledger knows of the horrors, the terrors that Cain has seen. She knows because she has survived her own macabre massacre but one horror has been replaced by another. One she is not sure she will survive this time but is willing to do what it takes, so the one she loves will not suffer any further. She knows no one but them will understand because she is damaged but so is he.

Will Cain hurt one of the people he loves to save just to save another? Will he ever feel free from a past that he can never escape? Will Mercy make the ultimate sacrifice to save one man’s soul?

This book is dark, twisted and bloody but it will keep you riveted by the twists and unknown as the story unfolds. It is heart wrenching to read about two people so broken that you just want to scoop them up and make it all better.

Saving Mercy (Fatal Truth Book 1)
By: Abbie Roads
5 out of 5 stars

The story Saving Mercy (Fatal Truth Book 1) by Abbie Roads is a paranormal/romantic suspense thriller. This is a book that will have you from the very first chapter and will not let go until the ending page. It is a high-speed ride through a world of good and evil. Cain Killion works as a profiler helping to catch murderers. He has an unusual connection to the blood at the scene of the crime. His childhood was horrific and he has never gotten over what he went through. He has always felt shame toward himself and nothing anyone says will ease his mind. It is heartbreaking to read about Cain’s past and what he has gone through. He is someone that wants to help others, however, he can’t seem to help himself. Then a clue left at a crime scene brings that past roaring back. Will Cain be able to relive the past in order to take down a killer and makes sure there are no more victims?

I love the character of Mercy Ledger. She also has survived a horrific past and has shown she is strong just by going on with her life. Now she is in danger and the person who comes to save her is Cain. She feels a deep connection to him. They both are survivors and bear the scars of their ordeals. Both of them fall for each other very quickly. Can Mercy provide the answers that will crack open a new crime by remembering the past? Will both Cain and Mercy find the peace they are looking for by holding on to each other? Will they survive?

The storyline and characters in this book are amazing. The twists and turns will have you quickly turning pages to find out what happens next. I love mystery/thrillers with romance and the author of this book has created a tale that was in my thoughts long after I was done reading. This story does have frequent scenes of violence and some adult situations. It would be recommended for those 18 years of age or older.

5.0 out of 5 stars Saving Mercy..... Have Mercy!!!! 19 June 2017

Mercy Ledger was a victim: the only survivor of a brutal home invasion that took the life of her parents, and left her scarred; physically, mentally, emotionally.

Cain Killion, son of the monster that killed Mercy's family, has been haunted by the crimes his father committed his entire life. Not only haunted, but shaped by his father's twisted psyche into a self perceived monster. Cain uses his unusual abilities to bring evil men to justice. But Cain has a dark secret. He wants, no he needs, to speak with Mercy.
But Cain is unable to contact her, as for the last two years Mercy has been kept under lock and key at the local mental hospital. Cain negotiates a meeting with Mercy, and his world tilts on its axis. Mercy needs to be rescued from evil, and Cain is the only path to safety.
Wow, what a book! Twists and turns, unexpected revelations... It kept me guessing until the last sentence! Can hardly wait for the next book from Abbie Roads!

Wow, totally devoured this book. It was a bloody good read – both figuratively and literally. This author has one sick and twisted mind that makes for fascinating stories.

Saving Mercy starts a new paranormal series but as with her first series its frightening addicting with tortured characters you immediately are immersed with and feel their pain and sorrow.

Reading a book by this author is like going on a mind bender – lock your seat belt and just hold on for the crazy ride!!

I was first introduced to Abbie Roads last year by another author when her first book, RACE THE DARKNESS came out. Since then, I've learned to just one-click on whatever this author puts out because I know I'll love it! I'm in AWE of the vivid imagination Ms. Roads must have in order to write such graphic and distinctive stories! Cain and Mercy fascinated me from the very beginning. They both have unusual "abilities" and a crazy connection that brings them together and holds them captive. The plot is an INSANE and erratic rollercoaster ride, full of twists and turns. I loved everything about this fast paced book and it's unconventional characters! Told from dual POVs with a surprisingly happy ending.
5.0 out of 5 stars I couldn't put this book down! 21 May 2017

If at all possible, Abbie Roads just outdid herself. I think this is her best book yet. She doesn't just explain the mind of her characters. She brings them to life by having you breathe, feel and become them. Reading Saving Mercy isn't a journey to see what happens in the end. The journey starts with page one and is travelled from paragraph to paragraph. Not many authors can do this for me.

I'm still astounded by Abbie Road's ability to make me feel each character and the whole book had such depth I could see it played out. Each character's movement, speech and expression was so easy to visualize. No one can reach the mind of a mad-man, serial killer, victim, and survivor like Abbie.
