I really enjoyed this book. I found it an engaging, turn-the-pages-quickly story that was filled with interest and excitement. There are elements here of 'The Hunger Games,' 'Divergent,' 'The Fifth Wave,' even 'Twilight' but all recreated into a story that sucked me in. The main negative I have with this book is the amount of swearing, including the "f" word which seems really unnecessary in a book aimed at teenagers as well as young adults. It is because of this level of language that I am not giving this book five stars. There is also a plot twist that involves discussing sex a lot but the emphasis is on not having it.

This is an epic story that sets a lot of groundwork for what looks like to be a huge saga. I couldn't stop reading when I started, yet it hasn't clung to me when I finished, so the characters haven't really wormed into me. It's well written and a lot of thought and plotting has gone into the book. I guess the only reason I haven't given that final star is purely because I'm not chomping at the bit to drop myself back in for another seven hours for the next book, and I don't think that is any fault of the author, just possibly a lack of connection with her characters and myself.

So well written, so many twists, you the reader think you have it worked out! Then bam, your theory is up ended again. Believable characters, fascinating story and insight in to human kind and the human spirit!

Siobhan can do no wrong in my eyes! I am making my way through all her novels slowly but surely. Alinthia was amazing, so this series had me curious and excited. She created a new dystopian future which is entirely believable. I could not put this book down. Logan is so incredibly swoon worthy! I always worry when reading an author’s catalogue that I will find something that changes my mind. This series is everything! This lady is a genius my mind is decided. I didn’t know aliens and underwater sanctuaries were my thing but sign me up. BRB going to binge the series!

I got sucked in by the mystery. It was a longer book, and while it wasn’t really slow, there was a few times where I was thinking “what the hell is going on already”. But so was the main character. So it could be a good or bad thing depending on personal preference.
There were likeable characters and frustrating characters, so definitely conflict. I definitely wanted to shake or slap people a few times.
It is YA, which I haven’t read in a while, so I had to adjust a little. A decent amount of angst has left me with a bit of a book hangover, so I’m of to read one of my palette cleansers.
I give it a 3 because it was good, and I want to read the next to see what happens. But it’s not hugely my thing though I can definitely see the YA’s loving it.

Siobhan Davis really knows how to draw readers into her books. I haven't really been a fan of alien romance books before, but once I started reading this book I quite simply could not put it down. The story of Sadie and Logan is intense and extremely exciting. Each twist and turn was epic and page turning. I seriously can't wait to read the next one one

I became a fan of Siobhan Davis's when I first read True Calling, her first book. I have since then read everything that she has written and published. I've loved all of them. I was of course, excited, when I heard that she was working on a new series. Ms. Davis does not disappoint. Just as she did in the True Calling series, she creates a completely new world in Saven: Deception.
As always, Ms. Davis's writing pulls you in right away. I'm finding it hard to describe this book without giving lots of spoilers, which I try not to do. I love the new world that she's created. I loved the characters. I loved how most of the plot twists were completely unexpected. (I guessed one of the main ones, but because she wanted her readers to, she laid the groundwork early on.)
I can't wait for the other books in the series to be published, so that I can read them!
I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I had thought that the True Calling trilogy was spectacular, but Saven Deception is a new breed of page-turner excellence. Siobhan Davis’ writing flows as well as ever, with hooks, intrigue, mystery and romance, and without a single plot blemish, let alone hole, in sight.
Each and every character is likeable and relatable to in some way – Sadie’s strength despite her innocence is admirable; Logan is impossibly passionate and protective of Sadie; and all the other characters have been brought to life with supreme precision and skill. So much so that you feel all the pain, all the anguish, and all the love without hesitating to debate if it’s reality or not (it is).
The plot is flawless, growing and developing naturally without being forced. Secrets and surprises are hidden in every nook and cranny, and the twists and turns around every corner draw you into their universe – which has been immaculately constructed. From the streets and monotonous high-rises of Sector fourteen, to the pristine allure of Thalassic City in all its gleaming colour, this is a world that my heart and mind calls out to, all realism and rationality thrown out the window.
Fast paced and fabulous, this book could not be put down by any means, and I found myself unrelentingly dreaming of the world and people that have been created. I would recommend Saven Deception to anyone, especially those who love YA, dystopian, (futuristic) fantasy and romance novels – you will utterly adore this book. I confess to not previously having read any books of the science fiction genre, but I now definitely intend to. Words cannot express how much I thoroughly anticipate the next book in the series.
These views expressed are my own, honest and unbiased opinions. I received a free copy of the book in exchange for a truthful review free from subjectivity.

I have to admit that I somewhat dropped the ball here, I should be quoting and quoting and quoting, but when I get fully invested in a book one of two things happen, either I highlight practically the whole book, or I forget to highlight and add notes altogether and next thing I’m a bit stuck, obviously, number two happened in this case, apologies.
The book opens with a definition of the word ‘conscience’ and a doctor, leaving her office. The scene is set immediately.
‘Dr Evan Taylor locked her office door and walked briskly out of the building. Tugging the collar of her brown cashmere coat over the nape of her neck, she strode across the empty parking lot, the wind whipping her long copper coloured hair in a mass of tangles over her face.’
There is an incident and we’re left with no doubt that Evana has been dealt a terrible, terrible hand, with no choice but to comply with people who have decided she is to be their teacher.
Next we move to the first person voice who has escaped where the toil she is supposed to be undertaken, and apprehended by the Robo-police who is – ‘part human, part-robot, and not one of the pure cloned kind’ who informs us that the escapee is
‘Sadie Owens. Seventeen years of age. Sector Fourteen. Medi-Tech employee’
who is out twenty three minutes before curfew. Now all the curiousity/ attention grabbing buttons were well and truly pressed. We are shown how life is divided in terms of class and we also see Sadie’s life outside of work, with a family that weren’t exactly showering her with love. As a result when she is told she is to take part in the government’s pilot programme ‘The Experimento’ where she is to be moved to a settlement under water she leaves quick smart, her only worry being leaving her beloved sister behind.
I cannot gush enough about this book. The pacing was amazing, with action suddenly hitting you between the eyes to make you sit up even straighter, the romance is perfection, captivating, but stopping before the over the top swoony stuff can occur, the characters all excellent in playing their necessary parts (you know, you like the ones you should, are deliciously shocked by those you don’t) and the way the scenes are set play like a film- I could see every mode of transport, every room, every setting with such clarity. Just to cement how much I liked this-after reading on Kindle Unlimited, I bought the boxset of 1, 2 and 2.5 and read all straight way. Epic, epic, epic (and you all know how overused I think that word is!) Ridiculously highly recommended.

Saven deception

This book contains strong language and some adult themes, but is aimed at those over sixteen and will certainly give young adults food for thought.
You know when something seems too good to be true? To a low-income family, their daughter getting accepted for a social housing experiment seems fantastic. In her new version of America, the population stats are strictly controlled, with just enough poor people being born to fill the workforce (much like China did in reality). Accommodation is in city slums and nobody can earn enough to rise to the next level. Our heroine moves to her new quarters, preparing for life in an undersea town. Wow, all the space, quality, facilities, she thinks. Then she moves to the new undersea experimental town, and it's even better. Odd how it's only the poor folks they are sending here, though.
The social aspect of the book is well thought out, like a cross between Hunger Games, Brave New World, and even Northern Lights / Golden Compass as we get a paranormal aspect involving talented aliens among us.
What bored me and made me flick pages was that about a quarter of the book is occupied with drooling over guys, mailing guys, wondering if they would ever suit each other, squabbling with guys, jealousy, discussing non-existent sex lives etc. It's possible that some girls will like this aspect more than others; guys won't like it. Suffice to say the author provides a reason for insta-infatuation at the very end.
Quite possibly our future is going to have robots doing most of the work, with people needed to do jobs involving people, like nursing. And I would think a government well resourced enough to put cities so normal they are boring, undersea, would have plenty of machines. So I am not completely sold on the concepts but the book is a useful thought experiment.

Loved it - another great book & I'm already looking forward to the next book in the series

Although I really enjoyed Siobhan's True Calling series I absolutely loved this book and I'm already waiting for book 2 in the series.
Siobhan created a very real new futuristic world that was so believable, at times I felt like I was there experiencing it myself from the city streets at the start to the new world created for the experimento called Thalassic City.
Most people will empathise with one of the main characters - Sadie, Logan, Haydn & Jarod to name but a few. This book has everything in my opinion - we've got the friendship between Sadie and Jenna, teen love & angst jealousy, rivalry and then a big twist thrown in.
Sadie is real from the start she has had a tough life and lacks any real confidence and is hoping that the new world in the experimento will help her escape her normal day to day grind.
One of the things that I liked about Saven Deception is that I felt I was continuously on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next.
Another fantastic read Siobhan Davis - I hope there are lot more where this came from :)

Having read and loved this author's previous series, True Calling, I had high expectations of this book. I definitely wasn't disappointed. From the first chapter, I was completely drawn into Sadie's world. Siobhan has a way of describing her characters and their world so vividly that when you finish the book, you feel like you've watched a movie. Sadie and her friends became my friends, and I felt like I'd been to Thalassic City.
I couldn't put this book down until I'd finished it, and then I had to read it again. I'm counting down the days until the next instalment.
