Great idea's for old bread, all odds and ends go straight in the freezer waiting to be baked into garlic bread, tuscan salads or croutons for soup. As a keen home cook i found all recipe's easy to follow, tonight we're having the minestrone with a mother ship chicken roast at the weekend with chicken pie made from the left overs. Apart from the odd slice of moldy bread or a couple of squished cherry tomato's in the back of the salad drawer we have zero food wastage, and eat like kings off an average of £35/week including all toiletries, cat food and cleaning stuff. Well worth it folks!
Today (Sunday) was a leg of lamb using the recipe from the book for a shoulder of lamb. Cut the cooking time down a little because of the weight of the leg and used dried rosemary because had no fresh, and it was fantastic. The two of us had a very nice roast lamb dinner (using the carrot recipe from the chicken mothership meal - absolutely delicious) and there is now enough left-over lamb in the freezer to make the scotch broth and the noodle salad. Hugely looking forward to cooking those.
