Product Description

Kristen knows men hide things. Case in point, her last boyfriend turned out to be married. Just like anyone else would be, Kristen is devastated. However, since Kristen evaluates people for a living, her ex’s duplicity has her searching for a new career as well as swearing off men.

Touring history museums with her sexy friend Ethan doesn’t count, because he has a girlfriend, and has only shown friendly interest in Kristen. He even helps with her career counseling tasks. Although Kristen has a secret crush on Ethan, spending time with him is safe. Until she discovers he’s actually single. Gasp. And now he’s flirting with her, too.

Suddenly, Ethan is way too dangerous. Not to mention tempting. Sure, he seems like sixty shades of perfect, but how’s a girl with bad judgment supposed to detect what skeletons he has in his closet?

It's been awhile since I've read one of Susan Hatler's books, and now that I've read another, I know I've been missing out.

A few years ago when I read my first few Hatler books, I enjoyed them because they were short, simple, yet romantic stories. They're perfect when I'm in the mood for a light read but also need enjoyable characters and great writing. With Save the Date I received just what I was looking for.

The Better Date than Never series follows characters with connected lives, yet even with the time gap between the last book in the series I read and now, I don't feel like I was out of the loop. It was easy to jump into the story and discover the characters and storyline (which if I remember right are mostly new, with only a little back story mentioned from a previous book).

I liked what Hatler did with Kristen and her story. It only added to the enjoyment when the romance aspect popped up in the story, and even then it wasn't easy to predict exactly what was going to be the outcome.

So as I said, this was another great Hatler read. It was quick and sweet and just what I needed to help me in a current book funk. I won't be waiting too long to read more from the series now that I've had another taste.

4.0 out of 5 stars A cute humorous read 16 February 2015
By Cyn - Published on Amazon.com

This was a very cute read full of fun, humor, sorrow, misunderstanding and some major trust issues. The author reminds us that talking out our issues is always best, never second guess what people are thinking or doing.
The author does bring back some of her wonderful characters from prier books, it was nice to visit with them again. She also bring a very touching read of Kristen and Ethan to best friends who really have feelings for each other but are afraid to take it to the next step for fear of losing that friendship.

Kristen beat herself up just a little too much for being normal and trusting her ex boyfriend. She doesn’t trust herself to help others in a relationship so she gives up her career and looks for another. She gives bad advice to her friends going on her own past. When she does snap out of her funk it might be too late for her to have the man she really wants.
Ethan was a great guy who is willing to wait for what and who he wants. He gives Kristen the time she needs and makes his move just to be shot down. He really was a sweetheart that has always been there for his friend. I loved the “save the date” it really brought a lot to the story.

I felt the author gave a wonderful story that flowed easy, you never felt lost, and she gives you wonderful characters which are normal people you can relate to with normal issues. I never felt this story was rushed just a nice clean read that at times was humorous. If you are looking for a cute, sweet, short read this is the story for you.

3.0 out of 5 stars Irritating h 15 August 2014

Loads of reviews so I'll just say that I liked parts of this book but couldn't get past how a trained counsellor couldn't get past her own humanity. I didn't think it was realistic and it was certainly immature. Like others have said, I couldn't quite work out why the H fell in love with the h. I would've liked the author to show me more of that relationship instead of focussing so much on the whiney h.

3.0 out of 5 stars Kristen worked my damn nerves! 11 November 2013
By Bookbaby - Published on Amazon.com

I understood that she was betrayed by her ex but damn, did she really have to try & ruin everyone else's relationships? She was super annoying, too washy washy, and was the most jealous of all the women in this series. The epilogue could've been longer, I wanted to read more about her and Ethan. Once again,a. Cute love story but it just wasn't enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars It irked me, but I loved it :) 17 October 2014
By Jessica - Published on Amazon.com

This is a very, very interesting read for me because it has Kristen, the most annoying in the Better Date than Never series that I've read and Ethan, my most favorite hero ever since I've read about him in Truth or Date.

It's not that I don't understand Kristen problems, but she really managed to annoy me almost throughout the whole book. It was really tiring to "hear" her deny her feelings for Ethan almost to the point that I wanted to reach in and pulled her out of my kindle (not that it's possible of course. Haha :D) She was so determined to ignore the obvious, yet still clinging to him deep inside and keep suspecting him to be with this or that woman when Ethan is wearing his heart on his sleeve. But doesn't matter how much I dislike her attitude, it simply made Kristen realistic (nobody's is perfect and everyone has a downfall sometimes) and besides, I was so relieved with her realization and honesty of her true feelings for Jake and Ethan that all my irritation toward her completely evaporated.
