Yet with Solomon Kane we have a diamond in the rough. And without a doubt Howard's most unique character as Kull and Conan are very similar to each other. A dark, brooding man who wants to right the wrongs of the world these short stories on Solomon Kane are an absolute fantastic read and show even more what a peerless master Howard was. Not only is there prose work within, there is also poetic work on Kane.
I am so thankful to Del Ray for releasing these collections on Howard's greatest creations. And any lover of the written word should have these in their collection, too!!

'The Complete Adventures' could more correctly be called 'The Completed Adventures' or 'Selected Excerpts'.
Don't get me wrong, the stories are wonderful, rich and intriguing, and I guess if you had never heard of Solomon Kane before and wanted a taster, then at £1.27, 'The Complete Adventures' might satisfy. However, once I had compared THAT, with hubby's print copy of 'The Savage Adventures of Solomon Kane', it was obvious that the price difference wasn't solely down to the wonderful illustrations. There's screeds more written material in this. It's galling to think that if I hadn't picked up hubby's print copy of this in order to carry on reading while I was in the bath, I would never have known just how much I was missing.
Well worth the extra expense.
Wrongful deeds, be they subjugation of the week, or corruption by supernatural evil.
Look out if Solomon Kane is on your case.
REH is the real deal. Nice illustrated editions these
