I'm really enjoying this series so far. The whole bonded scenario feels both familiar and new, and across book's 1 and 2 I feel that I'm gradually wrapping my head around it.
In book 2, we get to know Oli's bonds better. In book 1, we saw a mix of ruthless behaviour and with snippets of humanity. In book 2, we get to see them start to understand Oli better and her starting to open up more, and learn that not everything was necessarily how it seemed. We also start to see some backgrounds to certain behaviour but there's still much to learn in future book/s.
And the cliffhanger, well it let's us know that book 3 is about to reveal some of Oli's secrets. I definitely can't wait to read that book.
Great read a usual from this author.
Sooo much happened in this book. It felt so much thiccer than 350 pages!
I cannot wait for book 3, be warned it was a steep cliffy but aren't they the best. They get the heart pumping and make you feel alive!
The best thing was that I hadn’t heard much about The Bonds that Tie series. Which made it all the more delicious when I discovered how GOOD this is.
I love how Savage Bonds is all about strengthening the character development and bonds in this second book- oh that slow burn of romance is leaving me all a quiver at the rest of the series 💜💜💜💜💜
Oleander is one hell of a heroine, that’s saying a lot after Lips & Queen Crow, but I just adore this chick!
J Bree’s writing is so easy to read, with great pace and flow, wonderful dialogue inner and outer, this is a book I’ll read over & over.
A huge 5/5 stars I’d give more if it would allow
Their differences, trauma and secrets that keep the main characters divided and their relationships in turmoil is not rushed to be resolved and I couldn’t stop reading.
I’m so totally invested in this storyline and am completely hooked on this new universe. Full of action and adventure, mystery, emotion and suspense.
I thought the first instalment was riveting, but this second book has just obliterated that and I’m absolutely addicted. I CAN NOT WAIT for the next one.
My new favourite J Bree series.
Gryphon is still my man, But North is definitely climbing the ranks. Atlas still seems too good to be true, and Gabe just needs a little more edge. Nox, I still don’t have much to say about him yet.
Anyway as usual J Bree leaves us reeling in the world she has created. She has a way of sucking you in to her world and keeping you there. Savage Bonds is no different - it’s well written, well paced with plenty of unexpected twists and turns. The characters are multi dimensional and Oli is amazing.
I love the story line in the series
If you love a good read with a strong female lead character and strong brooding Male (mates) these are the books for you
Oli is super strong but hiding from the world the monster within
She risks losing everything by denying herself what they need
They are a band of monsters underneath their normal clothes and I think the next book will really show who each of the characters are
Loooove this book 5*****
The story line really hasn't changed, and is kind of a repeat of the first book - but I loved that book so bring it on
I HATE the book because it reads too quick, and I HATE the cliffhanger ending.
We all know that the bloody book is finished, but it's going to be pushed out forever (please dear Lord have it as a trilogy and not a series with 10 parts to it)
Overall an amazing book! - fair warning though, this author does the very unoriginal- "I can't tell others the thing that I won't say as it is a big secret" within the first 2 chapters, not resolving it until the end (which really isn't necessary, it wouldn't change the story at all)

This book really gets to grips with Oli and her guys. We learn more about the backstories of each of them and what their individual powers are. We learn more about Sage and her relationships (towards the end this story thread becomes so intriguing and possibly relevant to Oli!! Ahhh no spoilers are hard!) Nox and North both provide wonderful companions for Oli (who also have deeper relevance I'm sure) in Brutus and August, the best and most adorably savage shadow puppies EVER ❤)
I've seen it said that Oli behaves immaturely for someone who supposedly took care of herself on the streets for years. Yes, Oli had to look after herself, but also...she had never had 5 alpha males to deal with! She'd never been close to any men or had any male role models that we know of after her dads died. Her confusion and awkwardness regarding her Bonds is perfectly understandable in my opinion. It's new territory for them all, and J Bree does a wonderful job of showing their struggles.
It's true, a lot of the main action happens towards the end of the book, but the emotions and daily lives of the characters are nothing to be sneered at! J Bree always has a reason, and I believe the smaller details could be key to the future plot points so I devoured every tiny bit I could! Get your flowcharts ready! Prime your whiteboards! Keeping track of all of the breadcrumbs is such fun with these books!
There are still so many things unanswered and so many possible theories that I'm unbelievably excited for the next books, still 4 to go and so much could happen!
Whilst a reader often builds their own expectations waiting for a follow up book (difficult to reconcile with what the author delivers) very little actually happens in this book not even great character development or explanations. It feels like a place-holder for the third book which I will be buying, but probably won't be waiting for with quite the same level of enthusiasm.
There are two biggish plot reveals in the last couple of chapters both signposted in the first book: the villains are too well-organised so there has to be a traitor or two be found.
The world building is based on genetic "bonds" basically the fated mates trope but somehow the process has failed. Whilst the female lead is bitterly blamed for abandoning her bonds, her best friend's bond is getting absolutely no shame for doing exactly the same thing.
I knew after reading book 1 that I was going to love Oli and Savage Bonds really is what the title says pure and utter page turning savageness , I couldn't get enough of the boys as they all grew on me and Oli is my perfect female character, bad to the bone with no regrets, to add to my eagerness we have all these epic side characters to spice the book up even more and I just can't anymore!!! like I really need to wait for the next book and I don't want to wait as I need it now!!!
A definite must read
LET ME TAKE A BREATH.. 𝐦𝐲 𝐝𝐚𝐦𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭. Oli and the bonds are full of sexual chemistry, tension hatred and hidden truths.
This instalment see's a big leap in some of her bonds unfolding the truth and making the connections as to why Oli is the confused, misunderstood character she is. But let me tell you she is seriously one badass chick who loves fiercly!
"𝐘𝐨𝐮'𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐲, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐲, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐮𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞"
The tension and twists within leave your mind in overdrive. Why are the resistence so obsessed with Oli. Why are the bonds so blind to what she is hiding. PLEASEEEE CAN THEY ALL BOND 🥵
“𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐦𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐝. 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐮𝐬, 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐛𝐨𝐧𝐞, 𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐮𝐧𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝.”
The character growth for the bonds within is deep and meaningful but is laced in miscommunication, hatred and passion. But my love for each of them is growing. Well except Nox! 😬😜
That damn cliffy GODD JBREE you are a Queen.
Savage Bonds sees Oli starting to develop feelings towards her bonds. Every day she spends in the Draven home is another day closer to her losing the battle not to complete the bonding. She is struggling to keep her powers under control and doesn’t feel like she can trust her bonds. The miscommunications, assumptions and frustrations are putting a massive wedge in her and her 5 bonds developing relationships.
Tensions are high. The Bonded community are scared, the Council are fighting amongst themselves and the Resistance are getting bolder. Oli has been branded a monster as news of one her gifts reaches the public. She doesn’t let this beat her down though. She is a fighter, a fierce protector to the people closest to her.
The next instalment in The Bonds that Tie series is going to be explosive especially after that ending and the bomb of that last sentence. The twists J Bree drops are fantastic and I’m looking forward to more!
