Product Description

THE SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLER

Planet Earth is 4.5 billion years old. In just a fraction of that time, one species among countless others has conquered it. Us.

We are the most advanced and most destructive animals ever to have lived. What makes us brilliant? What makes us deadly? What makes us Sapiens?

In this bold and provocative book, Yuval Noah Harari explores who we are, how we got here and where we’re going.

Sapiens is a thrilling account of humankind’s extraordinary history – from the Stone Age to the Silicon Age – and our journey from insignificant apes to rulers of the world

‘It tackles the biggest questions of history and of the modern world, and it is written in unforgettably vivid language. You will love it!’ Jared Diamond, author of Guns, Germs and Steel

Yuval’s follow up to Sapiens, Homo Deus, is due in September 2016.

The author is so well read and such a great synthesiser of complex ideas and information, and added to that such an interesting writer that this book remains fascinating even if you are sleepless and horribly uncomfortable on an international flight at three am. He looks at things in new and challenging ways and gives us one of the best summaries of the meaning of everything that I have ever read. Thoroughly recommended. You'll want to talk about it and lend it to your friends.

This is the most engaging history book I have ever read. Youval is a master story teller that sheds a bright light on where we have been and where we may end up going. He not just a historian, he clearly exposes humanity with great clarity.

This book should be essential reading from high school to politicians of all persuasions. Fascinating!

What an amazing survey of human history! I wish it had been written decades ago, but perhaps it is only now that these things can be properly articulated. I will buy a copy for each of my children in hopes they will reference it from time to time. Now, on to Homo Deus . . .

This is an amazing take on the history of humanity. It completely challenged my understanding of the world of humans, and the many assumptions I had held in ignorance.
