Very repetitive & dragging. So dull.

Disappointed. Was looking forward to a good apocalyptic story and the title and cover seemed interesting but unfortunately this was too repetitive from the very first page. Was made to read the same information two and three times. There's no detail to set the scene or world build and what is given is contradictory. Like when she thinks, 'the beauty laid out before me stretches out for miles .. an homage to the resilience of our planet ', yet the page before she thinks about how the destroyed the world is and how the Santuary is surrounded by nothing except desert? She also uses incorrect words a lot, like using 'foreword' several times when it should be 'forward'.

Character thoughts and dialogue were so poor I cringed. It's basically a very tame omegaverse story, without the terms omega and alpha. Nothing but scenes that drag on for dozens of pages. Like one scene of her climbing down a building went in for several pages! The repetition was extremely irritating and ment I didn't finish it. Just too dull. So I can't even give it a couple of stars. Didn't peak let alone hold my interest. Gave up before 50%.

Not your typical dystopian take on zombies, but I really enjoyed this book and it's a great trampoline for the real nitty gritty I'm expecting in the second book, that cliffhanger was gobsmacking !
I like diogo and all "his faults" you still see he's not a complete barbarian and has limits and logic guiding him (most of the time 😉).
Excited to see what happens next 😍

I LOVED THIS BOOK! Dystopian stories are sometimes hard to get right, but this one is fantastically written and the world building is on point. There are some possible triggers for people, but they are generally MUCH more mild than you would find in other books, so be warned. Diogo is dominant, but it's not a BDSM relationship or a D/s relationship. Taron is definitely not submissive at all. It's more about their conflicting views on how to deal with the citizens of the Sanctuary. Diogo is a little unbending and oblivious to what is going on in the lower classes of the Sanctuary and, on the other hand Taron is idealistic and can't turn away anyone in need. She is unaware of all the pressure Diogo is under and the extremely difficult decisions he has to make every day.

I am such a fan of Nikita Slater! She hooked me with her Queens series and then again with her novellas written with Jasmin Quinn. I have never been disappointed in a book by Nikita.

This story, Sanctuary’s Warlord, is so good. It’s unique, well written and the characters are engaging. I care about them now and want them to succeed. I won’t go into plot (read the blurb), but I will tell you I loved every minute of this read.

It’s a dystopian world, a hard world surviving through harsh decisions. The Warlord, Diogo Fuentes, not who we thought he was; Taran, the Desert Wren, much more than we originally perceived. It ends on a cliffie, and, wow, what a cliffie it is. This is story telling at its finest. Highly recommended.
