Product Description

Once, I wanted to die. That was the night I met Guy.
The strange man with flowers stepped from the shadows and saved my life.

Guy. Dimpled smile. Body of a surf god. Smart and funny. Running out of time.

We became travelling companions through life, ticking off items on our bucket lists. I'd hidden from happiness for years and kept my life under strict control. Guy showed me how to step into the world and experience more, he brought light into the shadows and helped me through the darkness.

I became Phe again. I lived.

There's just one problem.

We fell in love and this wasn't part of our plans.

I thought we could face the future together, but Guy has a secret which changes everything.

The Same Deep Water is a standalone New Adult romance set in Western Australia.

I'm in the small percentage that would have to disagree with all the 5 star reviews.
This story starts off well, but then becomes a little slow.
I couldn't really adapt to the writing style and some parts seem as though they need editing.
I started off reading the first 60%, had a break, then came back to it a couple weeks later to finish it off, as I was still keen to find out what happens.
Unfortunately it's not a top read for me like everyone else is saying.
Nothing wrong with the storyline, possibly just the way it was put together in a slow and steady way.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. But then I bought it anyway because I loved it.
This is another beautiful romance by Lisa Swallow. It's different from her popular Blue Phoenix rockstar romance series but I really enjoyed this book - in fact, I think it might be my favourite LS novel.
The author has told a heartfelt story that really tugged at my heartstrings. I read it in two sittings and yes, it made me stay up way past my bedtime. And it made me cry, more than once!
I think the way this author handles fragile human emotions is really quite magical. The characters are not perfect, and the supporting characters are also multi-faceted. There's nothing dumbed down or superficial about LS's romance stories. I was deeply invested in Phe, and admired her resilience and strength. I was also cheering for the hero, Guy, even when it seemed for a little while that he might be irredeemable.
I had a feeling there was a mystery behind Guy but I totally didn't work out what it was. It was an excellent twist in the plot.
I also loved the Perth setting - so many places I recognised! Looking forward to the next Lisa Swallow book.

It isn't everyday that you read a book that leaves an indelible mark on your heart and soul. The Same Deep Water is a beautifully written story with characters that will stay with you forever!
Guy is a kind, good looking, considerate young man - so full of life. He would appear to be the perfect boyfriend but is struggling with a life threatening illness that has him trying to fulfil his bucket list before time runs out.
Phe is a timid young woman who has suffered a deep trauma and is struggling with her own battle with mental illness. Trying to stay afloat above the dark water that threatens to take her under is an everyday struggle for her.
This is where they both meet....Phe on the edge ready to take her own life and Guy who is the one to slowly bring her back off the edge and into a world where she discovers she can actually LIVE rather than exist. Whilst ticking off items from their respective bucket lists, they do the unexpected....fall in love. But Phe soon discovers that Guy is hiding is own secret.....one the reader will discover and one I don't want to ruin for you. It will leave Phe reeling and have her question everything. It might just possibly drag her back under the deep dark water again.
The Same Deep Water is a beautifully crafted story that will tug on your heart strings and will most certainly stay with you for a very long time.
You will fall in love with Guy and Phe .....their story is a unique and beautiful one about love and the possibility of overcoming ones demons to finally try to LIVE!
TSDW will hopefully leave you the reader with a better understanding of the daily struggles people suffering with a mental illness go through.
I thoroughly loved this exquisite novel. It will most certainly leave an indelible mark on your heart and open your mind. It certainly did with mine.
By far - the best book I've read this year!!!

Lyrical, spellbinding, it'll capture your heart and never let go...this book is all that and more.

Most books start at the beginning and save the heroine at the very last moment, but this book is the complete opposite. It starts at the end and ends with a beginning...though let me clarify that, because this book is told in chronological order. This book is a tale that starts when all hope is gone...and yet all it takes is that last moment for everything to change and a story to begin.

I was intrigued by the concept - a young man whose time is running out and a girl who feels like she has nothing left in her life but the end of it, yet working through their bucket lists together...a list of things they want to do before they die. That alone had my attention. What I hadn't expected was to be pulled into Phe's world - which is my home town, so I recognise all of it - like I was caught in the same rip current, carrying me relentlessly along through waves and dangerous undertow to...what, exactly? There's no way you can predict the ending to this one - it's not what you expect, but hope for, and you absolutely have to know.

Phe is a very vulnerable character, yet throughout the book she has a strength that even she doesn't see. Poignant and sad, yet daring to hope and maybe even love...

I read this book pretty much in one sitting, because like any good wave, this is one you MUST ride until the end. Five stars, no question.
