4.0 out of 5 stars Refreshing - loved it! 8 October 2015

Allegra lost her brother in combat and her mother couldn't deal with this blow of destiny. Without any other family, Allegra, still a law student, faced economic difficulties. Her boyfriend offered her a daring way out but finally they decided not to pull through with this solution. Now, several years later, her past hunts her down and could ruin her life and career. Desperate and humiliated she turns to Luke Neilson without knowing that he is deeply involved in her past. Can he save her future?

This was a classical suspense romance regarding plot and structure. The mix between romance and suspense was well balanced, the plot well elaborated, without leaving any loose ends. The artfully injected different potential villains kept the plot riveting and the reader was involved in the process of finding out who the real culprit was.

The background information on the main characters was sufficient and nicely integrated into the plot. I liked the fact that the Hero and heroine were around their 30ties and acted accordingly. Their banters were funny and had me more than once smiling.

This read was very enjoyable. The writing style was refreshing and combined with the sound plot this is a very recommendable read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Romantic suspense at its best! 26 September 2013

When an old envelope appeared on Defence Attorney Allegra Greenwood's desk, addressed to her and marked Private, she had no idea her world was about to be rocked to its core. Shaken, she rushed to see Private Investigator, Luke Neilson, a former SAS Commander who had served in Afghanistan around the same time as her brother Martin. Her embarrassment was acute as he viewed the photo inside the envelope; a photo of a naked Allegra which was taken back when she was a student by a boyfriend photographer. Though tastefully done, the publication of the photos would mean the end of her career - hiring Luke to find the person intent on bringing her to her knees was paramount.

As Luke and his two assistants investigated, digging deeply to find the origin of the photos which Allegra had been promised were destroyed, sinister secrets started appearing. But with Luke as her bodyguard, she also discovered the handsome ex-SAS Commander was creating havoc with her senses. Trying to keep her mind busy by working long hours, she found keeping her sanity was proving much harder in more ways than one.

But suddenly the danger was right on top of them! It didn't seem to matter where she went, she couldn't escape - would her life ever be the same again? Could Luke discover who was trying to ruin Allegra's career? Or was there more to it? What were the motives for this sinister and evil plot?

What a brilliant, gripping and intense novel! I loved it! Romantic suspense at its best in my opinion. Lee Christine is an Australian author, and this is her debut novel. I certainly will be watching out for more from this talented lady. The cover picture doesn't do justice to the contents, and created a wrong impression about the book to me. I'm so glad a couple of friends told me it was excellent - they weren't wrong! Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect story outside the US! 5 June 2013

It was refreshing to read a story that didn't take place inside the United States.
Add to that the fact that it keeps you intrigued to know who the bad guy is; we don't get any hint until the end of the book!
What fascinated me the most was that all the story action is developed in a time frame of just one week.
""Your week from hell just got worse", he rasped, almost wrenching her arm from its socket."
And then there is the romantic story between Allegra and Luke:
"Allegra Greenwood was one feisty woman, and he was going to need balls the size of melons to deal with her."
"Yes, Luke Neilson was like dessert to someone on a calorie-controlled diet."
And yet, they don't complicate the things beyond the fact that they are both afraid of getting attached and care for someone and losing it later just like they did in their past lives.
5.0 out of 5 stars Aussie romantic suspense - more please! 4 December 2012

Romantic suspense rocks when the heroine is strong, yet vulnerable. Lee Christine achieves this with Allegra ... also showing her compassion and determination.

Luke is simply gorgeous. I adore a man of principle.

The chemistry between them is hot, but you feel the risks they're both taking and you hold your breath for their relationship.

The story feels real, with a definite Australian voice and setting.

4.0 out of 5 stars Gritty read 16 November 2012

I first read this book as a fledgeling romantic suspense and the growth of Lee as an author is astounding. It is a sexy, heart pounding read that kept me on the edge of my seat even though I knew exactly who was the bad guy and how the story would unfold and I knew what was coming. This is an author to watch out for.
