About the Author
Hola! I am the founder of SMART-Learning for Spanish, and a Senior Lecturer at the University of Westminster (London), where I coordinate the Spanish Open Language Program and conduct research on language learning strategies since 2002. At SMART-Learning for Spanish, I design and deliver training and consultancy programs for students and teachers on smart ways of learning Spanish as a Foreign Language. The training helps students to take effective control of their language learning process, enjoy it more, and experience increased confidence and motivation for learning the language. I conduct teacher trainer workshops at the Instituto Cervantes London, and have delivered talks and teacher training on language learning strategies for institutions such as the University of Westminster, Universidad de Salamanca (Spain), Consejeria de Educacion en el Reino Unido y Republica de Irlanda, University of Nottingham (UK), and Instituto Cervantes (London). I am also an examiner for Cambridge International Examinations. My approach is based on more than 20 years' experience of teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language, and incorporates research from the fields of applied linguistics and cognitive psychology. I have worked in British and Spanish educational institutions, teaching Spanish for General Purposes and for Business, and I have coached students for exams. I also have extensive experience as an examiner, course developer, and learning advisor. I gained my BA (Hons) in Education at the Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca (Spain), and later completed an MA in Modern Languages in Education at the University College of London Institute of Education. I have been trained in "Improving Language Learning Styles-and-Strategies-Based Instruction" at the University of Minnesota (USA), and in coaching skills at the University of Westminster and The Coaching Academy. I hold a Certificate in Spanish Language Teaching to Adults from International House Madrid and a EUROLTA Teacher Trainer qualification. I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in the UK.
