Independence Day meets The X-Files when Air Force fighter pilots Jake Giard and Sandra Fitzpatrick join a decades-old secret project to integrate today's Earth into a galactic government. But when a galactic civil war spills onto our shores, plunging the planet into an otherworldly post-apocalyptic hell, can Jake and Sandy save humanity from extinction?

A Little More About Ambush...

As unknown aliens with a dark secret continue to raid the planet, Jake fights through a post-apocalyptic hell, struggling to comprehend the enigmatic aftermath of the first attack.

On the West Coast, Sandra's squadron smashes against the invading aliens. Thrown to ground, Sandy wades through blazing infernos and demented looters in a desperate attempt to save her family.

Finally, with the fate of the world in the balance, both captains must take the battle to the enemy—humanity's very survival hanging on their success.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great action that was a literal rollar-coaster ride 1 February 2016
By Catherine Mackay - Published on Amazon.com

A good first novel by Dean M. Cole that was so gripping I had trouble putting it down. The well-developed alien cultures were interesting, particularly the concept that Argonians had both a physical form and a data format which houses the knowledge the have gained over a long life-span - both the organic Argonian body and the digital Avatar are linked. The action had me literally on the edge of my seat and I went through an emotional rollar-coaster once I realised what the alien Zoxyth weapon did to humanity and the Argonian Galactic Defence Force - it's one sick weapon for sure. The characters were great and as I read I felt real empathy for them at their losses and despair for missing loved ones and in the face of the alien Zoxyth attack on Earth. The plot was well developed and Cole introduced some very interesting tech ideas that contributed to my enjoyment of the story. I am now just waiting for book 2 which should be arriving on my pc kindle in a few hours.

One of the finest SciFy books I have ever read. Outstanding development of plot and characters. The author has an dynamic method of drawing the reader into the story. I would recommend this book for anyone wanting an excited read that will draw you out of today's drama. I give this author two thumbs up and I am excited to see the movie.

5.0 out of 5 stars Aliens, Nukes, and love oh my! 11 November 2016
By Charles - Published on Amazon.com

I found the beginning of the book a little hard to get into but I'm glad that I stuck with it. There's a lot of cloak and dagger stuff that had to happen for the whole story to make sense. The characters are well developed and interact very realistically. I really enjoyed the book and can't wait to start reading the second! Highly recommended!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good SF Action if You Don't Expect Too Much 24 September 2015
By Mike Moody - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
In many ways this book is pretty generic. The characters are stock and not deep, the good aliens are people, the bad aliens are lizards and the heroes are generically heroic. In other ways the story, while somewhat generic, was mysterious and interesting enough to hold my interest. That coupled with some interesting alien technology and great action scenes make for an overall satisfying read. The action was split between space and an alien attack-ravaged earth, with some characters fighting in orbit and others trying to survive on a world reeling from sudden and savagely devastating attack. Both were good, but the scenes on earth aren't as interesting as the space battles, which are excellent. If you go into it looking for a fun novel about an alien invasion of earth and the heroes who oppose it, you’ll be satisfied with this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping from beginning to end. 11 May 2017

This intriguing story grips one's attention from the beginning and doesn't let up.

It has a fascinating concept for the alien races and interesting characters.

I'm going straight onto the sequel.

Recommended.
