Product Description

All I have to do is spy on Dimitri Brokov. The Dimitri Brokov. Billionaire, CEO, Russian Mobster, and my step-brother.

I can have it all. A fling with the hot, tattooed and totally off-limits jerk, half a million dollars and, best of all, the sweet taste of revenge to mend my broken heart.

Spying on Dimitri might just get me killed, but every time anger flickers into his eyes, I move a little closer. Every time he touches me, I get a little hotter.

I'm supposed to be in control, but I keep going back for more. His hands on me are addictive, the danger he's in thrills me. And when he ties me to his bed so I can't run, we share more than a night of passion; we share a purpose. A mission. One that threatens everything we thought we knew.

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review & since I have read other books & enjoyed them I was happy to comply.
Alexx Abbott's Ruthless offers a little bit of everything, from the Russian Mafia, a wicked step-mother, a hot tattooed step-brother, revenge, passion & suspense. It could easily been a mishmash with all this going on, but instead, it was a well crafted story that kept me reading, desperate to see what came next. My only dislike was the phony "accent" that was ascribed at times to Dimitri, with his "Da" & other stereo-typical mobster utterings!

It's an okay story. ***spoiler*** I love the fact that the step brother decided to commit himself to the female lead and didn't sleep around while they were seperated. Nothing particularly special, just a quick, easy read. Was not a big fan of the 'bonas' book at the end, hated that the brother screwed other women in the room next to the woman he loved, knowing that she could hear - gross!

3.0 out of 5 stars The story concept was good. The authors writing is good 7 March 2017

The story concept was good. The authors writing is good. I did, however, have issues with some major parts of the book.

<spoiler>Sarah is an accountant without a degree. I guess it could happen, but let us know the back story.

Sarah's father died when she was sixteen and he left her an eight million dollar trust fund and she had no clue. Not believable. When she finds out about the trust, she visits the lawyer. She's told he was worth over one billion dollars when he died and he wanted her to get most of it. Eight million isn't anywhere close to one billion. Here's the kicker, there's only five hundred thousand dollars left in the trust. How was the money withdrawn from the trust?

Sarah is abducted because she was spying on Dimitri and his associates. It was never really explained how she was found out. Dimitri rescues Sarah. He drops the gun that he's just used to kill 5 men while wrestling with a 6th. After killing him with his "bare hands" he takes his gun. They run to his car parked right around the corner from the scene and he throws this new gun that now also has his fingerprints on it into a dumpster. Police will never find that.

Sarah and Dimitri then fly off to Cyprus following a murderer. Somehow Dimitri is able to smuggle a gun out of the US and into Cyprus.</spoiler>

I may try one of Alexis Abbott's more recent works for comparison.

5.0 out of 5 stars You won't want to miss this one!!! 16 July 2016

Wow...Just Wow!! "Ruthless" is one of those bad boys books that when you are done, you kind of go, if only. Dimitri was a force to be felt, but I loved how he was able to tone it down when it came to Sarah. The Bratva stories are always a great source of suspense, intrigue and romance, and "Ruthless" is no exception. I have read several of Alexis Abbott books and they are all a great read with the down and dirty, but always with a HEA. The other reason I love these books so much is that the h is not just some wimp waiting to be rescued. They are always a force and well suited to the H. If you love suspenseful romance with a mafia feel to it, then I highly recommend "Ruthless". 4.5 Stars!

5.0 out of 5 stars His protection methods are ruthless, but his love is endless... 27 October 2015

This is the first Russian Mafia book I've read. In the end I've found them to be violently ruthless with no outward remorse, but only if needed to protect their loved ones. If you do have to be mixed up with them, be sure one of them love you ;) Story is a mix of hot sexy scenes and violent revenge. And now a bit about the story...

Sarah was cast aside by her step mother shortly after her father died. Sarah, penniless and on the street, has no idea her father was worth over a billion dollars. What she does know is she was so drawn to her step brother, but he never came after her. Feeling shunned and alone, she does her best to survive. That is until Rebecca, the evil step mother, calls her up to spy on Dimitri, her son. The payout is half a million and Sarah can't resist. Until she is almost in Dimitri's bed and now Rebecca is dead... what has she gotten herself mixed up in? Is love with this constant fight to stay alive?

Favorite passage: “You’re smarter than me, and stupider all at once.”
4.0 out of 5 stars "Leaving my panties soaked, and my heart absolutely stopped." 7 April 2017

This book covers all the popular themes from stepbrother, virgin, mafia, to the wicked stepmother. Dimitri and Sarah are 3 years apart and they were quite close when they lived in the same house. The family fell apart and she was living on her own at 18 struggling to keep a roof over her head and food on her table. Now the stepmother has contacted her to spy on her stepbrother for $500,000. Still attracted to him, this is a bad idea from the start and Sarah knows it.
"Just the memory of him brings back such scandalous thought that I have to push away."
"No matter how pissed he makes me, I always feel soft the second I'm with him. No matter how hard the world makes me, he tears down my defenses."
"He's known me for so long that he can tell all the littlest things about my behaviour and what they likely mean."

5.0 out of 5 stars How Can You Not Love a Hot Russian? 16 February 2016
By Lexi A. - Published on Amazon.com

I am a big fan of stepbrother romances and this one did not disappoint!

Dimitri and Sarah were close as real siblings until her stepmother, Rebecca kicked her out at 18 and kept all of the money her father left for her leaving her homeless and penniless. So Sarah finds it strange when her wicked stepmother summons her. She tells Sarah that if she would spy on Dimitri then she would reward her with a lot of money. Thinking its her chance to get even with the man who broke her heart Sarah agrees but when Rebecca turns up dead and Dimitri finally tells Sarah the two work together to figure out what is really going on.

Sarah's disobedience gets both her and Dimitri into a lot of trouble along the way but in between every bad situation comes a lot of hot and steamy encounters between the two.

This was a hot, steamy interesting read for sure my only negative was the fact that the author had Dimitri growl ALOT! I was starting to wonder if I was reading a stepbrother romance or a shifter romance. He growled during sex which I get esp during the times he was being possessive and primal but he did it during their regular conversations too which was kind of overkill for me. The author could have even used a different adjective every once in a while instead of saying growl over and over again. With that said I still really enjoyed this book!

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
