Product Description

Barrett

The name’s Barrett Callahan. Yeah, that Barrett Callahan—the one the press dubbed “Bare” after those naked sexting pictures surfaced. At twenty-five, I was armed with an MBA from Harvard, an executive position at my father’s Fortune 500 company, a penthouse, and a different piece of delectable eye candy in my bed every weekend. I had a life most men dreamed of. But then my father decided to run for president, and my playboy lifestyle became a liability to his campaign that was built on family values. My “makeover” comes in the form of a fake fiancée who I don't even get to choose--one who is an uptight, choirgirl acting priss but also sexy-as-hell.

Addison

My latest relationship had gone down in flames, and I was drowning in a sea of student loans when in true Godfather status, James Callahan made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. Seven figures for seven months on the campaign trail pretending to be the adoring fiancée of his son, Barrett. As soon as he won the election, our engagement would be dissolved amicably for the press, I was free to ride off into the sunset a million dollars richer, and because of the NDA, no one would be the wiser. Sure, I’d never met the guy, but I’d been a theater nerd in high school. I could pull off any role from Lady Macbeth to Maria Von Trapp. But that was before I met my fake fiancé—the infuriating, self-absorbed, egotistical, drop-dead-sexy King of the Manwhores.

The race will be a fight to the death finish, and that’s not even the actual campaign.

I quiet enjoyed this book it was funny, entertaining and emotional. Barrett the playboy and Addison the choir girl are pushed together to play the media up for his dads presidential campaign but along the way they fall in love but they argue more than teenage siblings and the past rears its ugly head butbit ends with a HEA

I read the story. I liked the story and the idea of it all. It really sucked me in like up to 2am leaving only 3 hours sleep. So yes I enjoyed it.
But the ending I thought what the Hell. Where's the rest. I wanted
probably one more chapter.
There was a few words out of place here and there.

Running Mate is a fun, flirty, can't stop turning the page read.
I have been a major fan of Katie Ashley books for sometime but after both Running Mate and Drop Dead Sexy I think she should only write Romantic Comedies. How she managed to make politics funny is beyond me!!
Barrett comes from a upper class, political family, he’s a bit of a manwhore and proud of it. Addison has worked her way up in the political world, had a big set back by trusting the wrong man, and has once again started rebuilding her career by working on Senator Callahan’s presidential campaign.
Senator Callahan is the favourite candidate but not enough that he feels secure he will win the election because of his "a different lady every night” reputation. The plan to help with Barrett’s image... get him a fake fiancé until the election is over! And the perfect candidate - Addison. Barrett and Addison grudgingly go into this fake engagement. But nothing is as it seems on the surface...
You will fall in love with these two characters and watch them grow on the campaign trail. With appearances and mishaps that happen along the way they find that there is more to playing lovers than they expected.
I loved the political side to this book! If only all politics could be this much fun!!!
Getting the dual POV from Barrett and Addison in this story was also a plus as you got to understand both characters.
I thoroughly enjoyed Running Mate by Katie Ashley; it’s sexy, fun and entertaining - a quick, hilarious romance that will leave you smiling!
It's a definite ONE-CLICK!

3.5 Stars.

I thought this book was cute and funny. Barrett and Addison are pushed into a fake relationship to help tame Barrett’s image for his Father’s Presidential campaign.

Barrett starts off as your typical manwhore hero, he has a wild personality. Meanwhile, Addison is the kind of heroine that doesn’t take any crap. She puts her all into everything that she loves, which is why she agrees to be Barrett’s fake finance. This is far from an insta-love story. These two don’t get along straight away but since they’ll be together for at least 9 months, they need to learn how to survive being with each other for many hours at a time.

At some points, I thought the characters might be acting a little bit immature. There were a few things that made me pause for a moment but nothing too big that took away from the story. However, I felt like the climax you normally feel while reading a book was missing. But I still think that Running Mate is a good book if you want something that doesn’t involve insta-love and if you want to read a cute romance.

It has been a while since I have read a Katie Ashley book (the past couple have been a bit of a miss for me, so I stepped away for a little while)

But she is back to her best with Running Mate.

Running Mate is a light hearted, flirty and sexy story of family doing what they must, especially when it comes to one of them running for President.

Addison and Barrett enter into a fake relationship, but as campaigns progress, so does their relationship, and it is not long before everything fake starts to fell like something more.

I LOVE the bite and snark between our lovelies. Barrett is such an egotistical jackass most of the time, and there were times where, just like our lucky lady Addison, I couldn't help roll my eyes, but with a smile on my face. There is nothing hidden, nothing false about the persona we see. He is what he is. He is cocky and arrogant, but he is also so much more.

Addison is the bomb.com. She is what a woman like me thrives to be. She is smart, funny, articulate and making it (albeit not so well at times) on her own. And with her "Bear" Barrett, you can't help but fall under their spell.

I was also happy to see a cameo of some characters from Ms Ashley's earlier Runaway Train series (albeit a very short cameo!)

There were some great secondary characters that I would love to see more of in the future *cough cough Ty cough cough*.

Now I can't wait to see what Ms Ashley brings us next.
