About the Author
Kerry Barnes, born in 1964, grew up on a council estate in South-East London. Pushed by her parents to become a doctor, she entered the world of science and became a microbiologist. After studying law and pharmaceuticals, her career turned to medicine. Having dyslexia didn't deter her from her passion for writing. She began writing when her daughter was born thirty years ago. Once her children had grown up she moved to the Kent coast and now writes full time.

Kerry Barnes can certainly tell a story!

I would recommend reading, The Hunted first. It was a page turner, as is The Rules.
We start this book in prison, and we meet up with a few people we recognise, from the previous book.
Great that there is an offer on the table, for a few men. Will the offer be taken though?
There was a really lovely part in prison too, that bought a tear to my eyes.
Zara made an appearance, half way through. She had been through so much, and was lovely to see her on her feet.
Again, we come across some nasty characters, who are up to no good. But there are some lovely people too.
Loved this book, from start to finish

An absolute MUST READ!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 April 2019Verified Purchase
My heart literally cannot tale any more! I read part one in practically a day and the same can be said for part 2. Once I had finished book 2 from this author in 2 days I almost went into a major sulk because I cannot read part 3 until its release in July and it seems like nothing in my long list of more than 500 books on my Kindle will be suitable right now! So I guess you can guess what I thought of this from that statement alone.
The Rules is part two of three and is an absolute MUST READ! Books one and two are some of the best books I have read in a while and I am so happy I finally got around to reading them. The book centers around Mike Regan who is currently in prison. However, he and other members of his Firm also serving at her Majesty s pleasure get offered a deal. They need to agree to come out of prison and find the people responsible for a new drug that is sweeping the streets and taking many lives with it.
When you see that kind of description it seems like a simple enough story line, but with the first book delving into many more aspects and characters it isn’t really as simple as it seems. I fear saying too much as people who haven’t read the first book will inevitable come across spoilers.
What I will say is that for two days straight nothing got done at home for me as this book took priority. Kerry Barnes has created a bunch of characters that I was compelled to read about, a story line that had me gripped from the very first page and a whole host of other things going on. I cannot praise the book, the writing and the sheer enjoyment I got from this, but what I would say is that these will without a doubt make my top ten list for 2019!

What a FANTASTIC book i have loved reading this series and felt as if i was there with them.Mike,Ricky,Zara their families and of course their teams of men are up against a new threat to their lives and their business.I was eagerly waiting for them to find the governor and to take him out.As so many have been hurt or killed they mean to make sure he is wiped from the planet and Zara does find out who he is.Kerry is a brilliant author and i love her books but i was duped with this book i can't believe how i got it wrong lol.5* but should be more.

So Bad This Is Hilarious
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 10 April 2019Verified Purchase
I’m glad this finished at 95% and the rest was a sample of another book. Just too silly for words. Unbelievably bad, so much so that I found the book hilarious. It kept me hooked as I wanted to see what the next stupid idea was, not because it was thrilling.
There are so many ‘incestuous connections’ that stagger belief and add to the hilarity, along with a feeble, mind numbing (lack of) storyline.
The list of characters goes on and on and on. None are captivating and most come across as lacking in intelligence. The main character, Zara, reminded me of a Wonder Woman, with a prosthetic hand.
There is no real storyline but between guffaws, I deduced- a gang leader and minions are let out of prison, by police (haha) to rid the London streets of violent crime. Said gang leader has competition from other gangs who are selling a new drug Flakka. Lots of killings take place but no one is ever apprehended (haha) and so it goes on, coincidence after coincidence and a little like, “it just so happens.....”
I’m flabbergasted that this tripe has been rated so high. I certainly wouldn’t recommend the book and I certainly won’t be reading any more by this author.
