If you like it dark and dirty, then this series is just for you. Add in some MC threads and a suspenseful storyline, and you've got a killer read....ummm...literally. This is the story of X - Xaviar Blood - a hitman who belongs to the Royal Blood MC. He wants out and takes one last job, which ironically, has him doing a job for their rival MC, the Necromancers. Someone tried to kill the leader of the club (Sykes), so now X;s job is to find who it was and kill them. No problem. becomes a very big problem in the form of sexy, sassy Mercy Reid. When she starts working at the Royal Blood biker bar, X is intantly attracted to her, and vice versa. Before long they are involved, but not in a pretty hearts and flowers kind of way. Their passion is animalistic, raw and brutal. *Warning: if depictions of rough sex are not your thing, then i wouldn't read this book*.
There are twists and turns everywhere in this book, which was one of the things i love about it. A few times i thought oh this is predictable, i've figured it out already, but then as i read on, i realised that while i was half right, i didn't in fact, have it all figured out.
This book is about a killer, so expect scenes of violence (think Sons of Anarchy, and you'll be close to the mark), but it is also an exploration of the human psyche. X was trained to be a killer for the club, but he wasn't always this robotic, unfeeling, merciless hitman. There is a back story there that we get glimpses of throughout this book, which will be revealed further in the second book (based on the reviews of read). So while there is revenge, there is also redemption. I've just purchased book 2, and there's a 2.5 as well. Based on the reviews, these books just keep getting better.

As a fan of Dark and gritty romances I have to admit I loved this book. It was not what I was expecting going in and that was fine but please heed the warning. If you don't like dark romances this book is not for you. This book is raw, there is no other way to describe it. Amity has gone darker than she has before and the result of that is Mercy and X, two of the rawest characters you may ever meet.

It's a biker book, but is not predominately a biker book. Mercy is looking to get lost and X is a man that you don't mess around with, at all, ever, for any reason. He's cold and calculating and just plain scary. Mercy doesn't seem to mind, although with what has happened to her in life perhaps she just has no fear anymore.

This was a book that I couldn't put down. It was a gripping and quite frankly scary read at some points, but so worth it. Although now I am waiting for two books from this author so I hope she gets them done soon.

Amity seems to be going from strength to strength with her stories, delivering new characters and fresh ideas in genres that I wasn't sure could deliver me much more. Even if you are not a fan of the dark romance but love a sexy read Amity is an author that I can wholeheartedly recommend, and if your like me and don't mind taking a walk on the dark side then this is a book for you. Pepper Winters fans will love this book.

This is another amazing book by Amity Cross.
This is not your average biker book. This one has a bit of a dark twist but still includes Amity's kick ass girls and super hot, sexy guys.
The story involves a young woman, Mercy, who is looking to get lost and a biker hitman, X, who is trying to find his next mark.
These two people meet in the Pub that the Royal Blood biker gang hang around in. There is an instant attraction which they both try to fight. All it does is make the meeting of the two all the more explosive.
If you like steamy sex scenes, hot alpha males, bikers and kick ass women then you cannot go wrong with this book.

Amity warned me … she warned all of us that this story was going to be dark, foolish me underestimated how dark it was going to be.
If you think you are getting the hello kitty version of a hitman or the pleasant ‘have a conscience hitman’ – you will find no joy here.
Xavier ‘X’ Blood is brutal, aggressive and he’s a killer. He’s emotionally stunted until Mercy makes him feel again. This opens the gates of confusion for him and he doesn’t know how to deal so he does what he does best. I have never understood how someone can be sexually aroused at such brutality but then again, I’ve not read or known anyone so emotionally disconnected.
Mercy Reid is not who she says she is but she’s on her way to becoming her. Searching for answers and finality of her parent’s murder – she too is emotionally devoid of any stability. Again, Amity hits the mark on creating a strong female lead.
This tale left me cringing, gasping and feeling uncomfortable. The relationship is based on sex. Brutal sex. That’s it. They manipulate each other to serve each other’s purposes. I just don’t know how anything good is going to come of that but trusting Amity, she will be able to make it work. There was nothing for me to relate too but in saying that, it left me open for the experience. What a writer to make someone feel that way and reel them into the story that they cannot put it down. I had to know what happened. I wanted to know how the characters would turn out and she kept me guessing the whole way through.
There was one part where I was thinking ‘oh this is slightly predictable’ and then BAM – out the window that thought goes! I have questions about this story, questions that will obviously be answered in the next book in the series, I just don’t know if I can stomach it.
