Product Description

“Animal Dwarf Bandits” with Tommy Guns are on a crime spree in Georgia!

Dillinger-style bank heists are being committed by a dangerous gang of little people wearing animal masks. Enter ursine photojournalist Thelonious T. Bear. Still smarting from his misadventures in Norfolk, he’s eager to begin his assignment in the American South. However, Thelonious soon learns that the South isn’t all fried chicken and sweet tea. In between encounters with a trigger-happy farmer and a fire-and-brimstone preacher with a snake, he’s stalked by a man in a red pickup truck and nearly bear-napped by a family of hillbillies. Thelonious’s resemblance to one of the bank bandits puts him on the radar of Sheriff Maynard Grizzle and budding reporter Nate Jessop, both of whom are convinced he’s in the gang. As the robberies gain more media attention, locals smell fame in the air. Suddenly everyone wants in on the action. And Thelonious finds himself at the heart of yet another series of crimes!

From bestselling author Mitzi Szereto, co-authored with her celebrity sidekick bear Teddy Tedaloo. Be sure to read Normal for Norfolk (The Thelonious T. Bear Chronicles), the first in the series!

Mitzi Szereto ( is an author and anthology editor of multi-genre fiction and non-fiction. She has her own blog Errant Ramblings: Mitzi Szereto’s Weblog (, and a web TV channel Mitzi TV (, which covers the "quirky" side of London. Her books include Normal for Norfolk (The Thelonious T. Let me get this out of the way first. Rotten Peaches is a big improvement upon Normal For Norfolk. That is worth pointing out from the start. But is it something I would recommend to friends and neighbours? Well, we sort of have a problem.

One rule I have often observed in the most truly powerful stories is that the protagonist has to have some form of control over his situation, regardless of how that situation changes. For example, The Godfather's Michael Corleone spends the first half of the novel trying to tell his girlfriend that his family is a mafia family, he himself is not mafia. Then after his father is shot, it becomes increasingly apparent to everyone including Michael that he is the only one in the family suitable to succeed his father. And nothing quite changes your stance towards something like having your family messed with.

Michael is a pro-active character who kills and hurts people in the defense of his family, and in writing that sentence, I give you what is wrong with Teddy Tedaloo books in a nutshell. He seems so weak and helpless in his own environment that reading about his adventures becomes more an exercise in frustration than a journey.

Want to see Teddy exposing corrupt hick-*****ard cops and kicking off an ursine civil rights movement? One or the other? Writing an exposé on the fact that hick-*****ard Americans tolerate too much disservice? Well, you are not going to find it here, and that is the frustrating thing. It feels too much like we are just watching a bear take your ordinary everyday kind of holiday, and once again, there is not enough focus on how differently a bear might find life in these places.

It is deeply frustrating. I so like Thelonious, but I am given so very little to cheer him on through.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thelonious Rides Again!!! 1 October 2015

Once again Mitzi Szereto and Teddy Tedaloo have created a wonderful tale of excitement, tension, and just plain fun. The trials of Thelonious T. Bear continue in Georgia with a couple of backwards sheriffs, a budding and over zealous newspaper reporter, a waitress who's dying to be in the spotlight, a fake televangelist preacher in it for the money, and four bank robbers (one of which wears a mask that bears a striking resemblance to Thelonious!). Poor Thelonious just wants to snap pictures of southern ruralism but fate has a different plan in store for him! By the time the story ends, you'll be wanting to invite him over to give him some peace and quiet for a spell. A wonderful escapade leaving you looking forward to his adventures in the future!
