Product Description

‘With her heart in tatters after a relationship break-up, Rose Bennett swaps her hometown of London for the sunny shores of Australia – but she arrives to find the Shingle Valley shrouded in winter.

As the weather improves, Rose starts to unlock the secrets of the valley – from bonfire ceremonies and wine-making traditions to eccentric locals and their histories.

Despite herself, Rose starts to fall in love: with the valley, the wines, the two children she’s helping to look after – and with the handsome and brilliant Mark Cameron, owner of the troubled Kalkari Wines estate.

What will happen when Mark’s estranged wife, the tempestuous Isabella, returns? Will Rose find a future in the Shingle Valley, or will she be forced to leave?

Kayte Nunn is a freelance book, magazine and web editor and the former editor of Gourmet Traveller WINE magazine. She writes on travel, health, wellbeing, parenting and lifestyle topics, and has been short-listed for local and international short-story awards. She is a mother to two girls. This is her first novel.

An Aussie winery, a bit of cloak and dagger, incredible food and a romance...oh, I was hooked from the first taste. I seriously loved this book. There's a lovely romance that blossoms along with the vines, but there's so much more to this story, I swear if it was a bottle of wine, there'd be a whole page of tasting notes to go with it. All the minor characters have their own tale to tell, too, woven in with Rose's story, to make the final vintage well worth reading. Makes me wish there was more to come from the Shingle Valley - I will definitely be looking out for more books from Ms Nunn.
Five stars for a wonderful read.

A great book that was hard to put down, it shows the hard work involved in wine making and being a chef but plenty of lighter moments to enjoy. Good story line.

What an awesome read - I loved everything there is to love about the lovely Rose and her life in the sumptuous Shingle Valley - in fact maybe I'm a little envious of her. Now surely that's a sign of a great book. I can't wait for the next book by Kayte Nunn and her gorgeous story telling!

Loved the premise of this book but wish the characters had been developed more and it wasn't such a rush! It felt like a dear diary entry for the most part so quite disappointed, with what could have been a great read. Slow down and develop the story, the characters, less is more.
