Product Description

A new standalone novel from New York Times bestselling author Kendall Ryan.

The last time I saw my best friend’s younger brother, he was a geek wearing braces. But when Cannon shows up to crash in my spare room, I get a swift reality check.

Now twenty-four, he’s broad shouldered and masculine, and so sinfully sexy, I want to climb him like the jungle gyms we used to enjoy. At six-foot-something with lean muscles hiding under his T-shirt, a deep sexy voice, and full lips that pull into a smirk when he studies me, he’s pure temptation.

Fresh out of a messy breakup, he doesn’t want any entanglements. But I can resist, right?

I’m holding strong until the third night of our new arrangement when we get drunk and he confesses his biggest secret of all: he’s cursed when it comes to sex. Apparently he’s a god in bed, and women instantly fall in love with him.

I’m calling bullshit. In fact, I’m going to prove him wrong, and if I rack up a few much-needed orgasms in the process, all the better.

There’s no way I’m going to fall in love with Cannon. But once we start…I realize betting against him may have been the biggest mistake of my life.

As a Kendall Ryan fan I really struggled with how to rate this book so its taken a little while to post my review. There are parts I enjoyed and I didn't dislike anything however there was something lacking for me. It was quite predictable & safe... so there weren't any surprises. I did enjoy the fact that the heroine was the older of the two. The chemistry between Paige and Cannon was very strong and Kendall writes witty banter very well and The Room Mate is no exception.
The Room Mate is the story of Cannon and Paige. I thought Cannon was great - not your typical leading man at all... He is a doctor in training, a great guy and he is a big nerd at heart. He is convinced he is cursed when it comes to the opposite sex and that made for some humorous dialogue. Paige was a dynamo, four years older than Cannon, he is her best friends little brother which made this book feel a little taboo and fun. Kendall Ryan writes such a fun, sexy and engaging romance that I forgot about the age difference. Overall it was a cute, easy, enjoyable read and it doesn’t lack in steam either - just not very original.
The Room Mate is written in a dual POV so you get to understand what both characters are thinking which I enjoy - I finished it in just a few hours. It was originally slated as being a standalone contemporary romance, however now she is going to make it into a series. I am looking forward to The Play Mate in March and I hope it takes the series to the next level. A 3.5/4 Stars from me...

Helping out a friend by having her younger brother become a short term room mate was more than expected, when chemistry sparks between Paige and Cannon.
Life isn't always as we expect,
Love can't be predicted,
Sometimes risks have to be taken.
Enjoy this awesome read from Kendall Ryan.

This book was average. I preferred the first half. The second half of the book just annoyed me and that Allie, urgh Paige, get yourself a new best friend. She's a mega bi tch. Horrible friend, horrible sister.

Cannon had long had a thing for his older sister's best friend Paige. Four years his senior, she was the unattainable object of many a teenage fantasy back in the day, though hopefully she was entirely unaware of that fact. If she were, that'd be weird since said sister, Allie had just offered Paige up as the solution to Cannon's temporary housing crisis.

Not having seen him for over five years, and not at first even recognizing the boy she once knew in the sexy man she's spotted walking up the street towards her apartment, Paige is immediately, and uncomfortably aware that Cannon is no longer 'just' her best friends younger brother. At twenty four, he's now a grown man in his own right, and a damn hot one at that. One now living just the other side of her bedroom wall.

Of course there is that wrinkle. Much as he might be all of those things, and only months away from starting his residency, he is still her best friend's younger brother, and Allie is nothing if not protective where her family is concerned.

This could get complicated.

(spoiler alert ... it does)

Kendall Ryan has produced, in The Room Mate, a romantic comedy that stands out, not just because of the quality of the writing, or the humor, which are there in spades, but also in how the two main character defy their stereotypes. Cannon is the hot playboy type whose sensitive side is right there in plain sight for anyone with eyes to see. Paige, the confident, together older woman who, when it comes to Cannon at least, reverts almost to the level of being a shy timid teenager.

Statements are taken for challenges, fantasies are lived out, life intervenes and misunderstandings ensue. Ensue some more, continue to ensue and then finally something's got to give.

A rollicking fun ride (talking about the book, though Cannon would probably say that about Paige too)

The Room Mate by Kendall Ryan is the first book in her brand new Roommates series. Told in dual POV this book starts out as normal as any other - we learn about Cannon and his unlucky history with women and their psychotic tendencies. He is sudden need of a place to stay and his sister hooks him up and convinces her best friend (since childhood) to let him stay at her place for the next two months until his residency begins. We also learn about Paige, how she likes her space but is quickly becoming A-OK with sharing it with Cannon despite how bad this could go for her friendship with Allie.

So the lust and attraction builds between these two and they have a couple of racy run-ins in the apartment and it's hot and tension building... And then the story just explodes into another level of awesomeness you don't see coming. Twists and turns and some major dilemmas are now part of the deal and you just won't be able to put this book down until the very LAST page is read.

Loved it and I cannot wait to see what is next for us in The Play Mate, The House Mate, and The Soul Mate - the next books in the series. Enjoy!
