Alice Clayton is an auto pre-buy for me and hence this collaboration with Nina Bocci was another no brainer. They have excelled at conjuring deep feelings of not just romance but true wonder as I now want to experience the beautiful scenes and culinary delights of Roma! The story begins with us meeting Avery and within the first few pages she finds her husband "banging" his executive assistant. Avery is told to forgive, "this is just a man thing, and move on" - but understandably she can’t. Instead, she decides to leave the crazy advice behind and visit her bestie, Daisy in Rome. Fleeing to Italy is the first of many spontaneous decisions Avery makes in this new uncharted chapter of her life. If that wasn't overwhelming enough, her first night in Rome brings her face to face with a man from her past, whom she experienced some of the best times of her life with - her first love, the divine Marcello. Avery and Marcello are not the same young, free people as they were when they first met, but their feelings for each other haven't changed. And what starts as an uneasy truce, soon turns to friendship and then to much much more.
Roman Crazy is a heartfelt and romantic journey of love and friendship. It's filled with humour, lusciously described within the beautiful culture, people & streets of Italy. This story is about so much more than a failed love or even a second chance romance - it's really a second chance at life. I am looking forward to more from "The Broads Abroad" series this collaboration has started. Highly recommend.
