Gabe and Allison come to an agreement about a fake engagement, for various reasons. But, it's going to be difficult to pull this off for family and friends. And, keeping this thing platonic is going to be hardest of all. Great read.
Allison will do anything to ease her mother dying of cancer, even pretend to be engaged. I loved how close this family were but Allison was just a bit slow on realising she loved Gabe. Gabe has been dealing with an unfair and unjust father and I hated his father vehemently. All Gabe wants to do is save their section of the family ranch by introducing organic means to bring in better prices. Allison suggests a fake engagement so she can stay near her mum and in return she will help Gabe get his project up and running. An enjoyable read that tugs at the heart a bit but these two took a long time to get their act together.
Everyone has a secret. Allison keeps secrets from her family. Gabe has a secret within his family. Ben is just a four letter word and needs to walk off a short cliff. Travis has a secret. Joel is keeping secrets from Trevor. Trevor is being a butt and keeping secrets too.
Gabe helps Allison by having a pretend engagement while she comes home to hang out with her mom who has cancer. Allison isn’t suppose to know thus the engagement to keep her near her mom.
Gabe is busting his cowboy butt to keep the ranch. Ben is a total, I can’t choose just one adjective. I’m mad at Gabe’s mom, where is she with this massive family drama?
This author is very good at having these couples get to know each other way before the sex starts. Gabe is a super caring, helpful, gorgeous, puts others before himself. This story was excellent.
If you took the very lengthy sex scenes out of the book, it would barely be a novella. While there are books where some sex adds to the plot, this was not one of them. A little would have been OK but, in this book, the sex was probable a third or more of the book. It did not add to the plot at all and actually detracted from it because it interrupted the flow of the book. I wish these books would be rated for amount of sex scenes so I wouldn't waste my time reading them.
Gabe and Allison makes a deal that benefits them both and this means they have to be engaged to each other.
I liked this story, it was sweet, fun and had a lot of emotions packed on there. At times I thought the storyline was a little weak but who cares when it's as entertaining as this. I love the whole pretend concept of a story so this was good in my opinion.
The writing style is easygoing and filled with dialogues, in addition it's no unnecessary descriptions of surroundings so I enjoyed the read.
The characters are well written and I feel so sad for Gabe and how he has been treated by his father. Allison is helping him to see his self worth and that he needs to care for himself also and not just others.
This is part of a series so it can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading in order because of the secondary characters that appear in the story.
Gabe is trying to find himself and is looking for alternative ways so that his family can continue to live on their land. His biggest obstacle is his pig-headed father who is stuck in the old ways and his continued reminder to Gabe of his short comings. Gabe has been blaming himself for his brother's death. His father, Ben won't let him forget it! Gabe is always helping anyone and everyone who asks. Allison has come home to due to her mother's cancer who has not told anyone of her children about her health. Allison asks Gabe to be her fake fiancé but we know Gabe won't say no. They start this arrangement but soon realize it's not so difficult to fall into the role. Their charade is so convincing that everyone who sees them think it's real but yet they don't see it themselves. What a great story to read and how they blossom and find strength in each other. Read it and you'll feel their love.
