Fantastic book!

Jennifer Barnard did it again. I've read few of her books just none of this series unfortunately, although I had the pleasure of this book. I'll certainly get the rest of the series. This book had me from the start, Jake and Olivia had me involved, enjoyed the suspense and intrigue as well as the steam. Fantastic book!

I always particularly liked Jake and I enjoyed this book. To be honest, I did feel it ran out of steam a little as it went on, but it did wrap up the Rockwell family's story well.

I have been reading this author’s books since she first started writing and have always loved her series/stories. As I start/finish each one, I think: THIS is my favorite series! She can’t top this….and with The Rockwell Legacy series, imho, she does. I read the first book about the Rockwell siblings, a story about Kai, and knew I’d love the family and couldn’t wait to get to the bottom of the overall story arc and then to each sibling’s story. With The Rock, the last book about the Rockwells, for me, Jake Rockwell hit it out of the park.

Yes, The Rock is a standalone however each book brings its own mystery and intrigue to the table. But it is Jake who helps solve the biggest mystery of all: what happened to their mother. And yes, there are a couple of other stories for him to “solve” and for that he has a “true professional” (you’ll understand my comment when you read the book) to help: Olivia James, Private Investigator. Jake and Olivia are truly well-matched. Their budding HEA is fun, and funny; dangerous; complicated; and truly touching to read. Jake has his family “issues” to deal with that need to be resolved before he can move on in life. Olivia…hooboy! The only person she can trust in this world is her brother and partner/fellow PI (a character I LOVED and a true smart aleck). Her family, past friends, and ex are (let’s say) people I would not like. Reading about how Olivia and Jake work past each of their own trust issues, and how they navigate a road to an HEA, was wonderful. I cannot do the story justice, at all, nor will I give out any spoilers, but the characters – Jake’s family, Olivia’s brother – they ALL help these two see that they were made for each other.

I can’t say enough about this story and series. I will miss the Rockwells…yes, even Max…but am eagerly looking forward to whatever new book Ms. Bernard writes.

Olivia James. After a sham marriage, Olivia keeps to herself and as a PI usually just takes jobs from female clients. Her best friend is her brother. Her parents are not happy with her. She works out and is in top shape. She doesn't want or need a man...then...she meets Jake Rockwell, her latest client.

Jake wants to get closer and Olivia pushes him away. They need to stay professional for the sake of Jake's sister Grace and the mystery surrounding her becoming a Rockwell. The death of Jake's mother in wound around the facts of Grace's birth.

Why did someone kill Amanda Rockwell, Jake's mom? Who wanted to keep the secret of Grace's parents a secret forever? What will those involved do to keep the secret? When will Olivia and Jake realize they have feelings for each other? So many questions, and such a full of fun and suspense book!

I'm sorry to see this series end...so let's keep it going!! Possibly a spin off with a love interest for Mad Max the Rockwell patriarch? Olivia's brother is a hottie, maybe another book with him as the lead? So many other stories might be found! I want more from this fabulous family!

A great story and an absolutely fantastic end to this series!!

I have been looking forward to Jake Rockwell's story since the very beginning and Jennifer Bernard did not disappoint!! Jake is the rock of his family and their small community. He decides that the family needs to learn once and for all what happened the night his mother died and what his baby sister had to do with her death. He hires Olivia James to help him get answers. He is attracted to his private investigator but she makes it pretty clear that there will be nothing personal between them. But Jake slowly wears down Olivia's walls and their attraction explodes. Seriously, these two are Steamy! But as they search for answers they are putting themselves into real danger.

I'm so sad this series is over!!! I could not read fast enough as Jake and Olivia uncovered more clues and their relationship got hotter and hotter. And of course we got to catch up with the rest of the Rockwell family. I loved it!!

Saved the best for last!!! This book wrapped the series up perfectly. What is not to like about Jake Rockwell?
Jake and Olivia continue to try to solve the mystery of Jake's mother and his sister Gracie. A few adventures along the way mixed in with some romance make this for a page tuner you won't want to put down.
Each Rockwell book has gotten better and each one had it's own twist. There is an update on all the past family members. The only thing better would be if Olivia's brother now gets his own book or maybe even a spin off of his new detective agency.
