This novella just didn't really have the rock chick 'flavour' for me. And although Daisy and Marcus were fine as side characters in others' stories, for me they don't really stand up on their own as a focus for a whole story. Marcus is actually a pretty dodgy guy (although admittedly a hot alpha) and all of his money that he lavishes on Daisy was probably made in a very shady way. This was almost totally swept under the carpet in the novella. But it made me uncomfortable all the way through. Kind of similar to the concept of blood diamonds, on a smaller scale.
As for Daisy, her story was told so you could understand her sad past and her motivations, but as the main focus h she didn't work for me. Her choice of a (giant) boob job, her fashion sense (ouch!) and life as a stripper? Just, no. Yeah she was sweet and caring, but otherwise she had very little appeal as a character for me.
I found the end of the book to be overly sweet, almost sickening, like a super cheesy little kid's fairy tale. I wasn't invested enough in Marcus and Daisy to find it satisfying, I suppose. We did get a brief mention of some of the other rock chicks and their families, which was nice. But otherwise, I would have been happy if Ms Ashley had just left things as they were with the rock chicks living on in our imagination, and not bothered with this story.
But, there are lots of 5 star reviews already, so I'm probably in the minority here. Oh well. I'm happy to go back and reread the earlier books again if I want a rock chick fix in the future.
I knew that I wanted Daisy and Marcus’s story but I didn’t realise how much until I got it. It’s the little things really. I wanted to know how Daisy became a stripper. How was it that such a sweet and beautiful lady came to be the headline act at Smithies?
I wanted to get into Marcus's head. I had a deep desire to know how Marcus felt about the way Daisy dressed, spoke and acted. Did Marcus fall for Daisy after seeing her on stage? Was it a matter of testing out her skills behind the scene and deciding to keep her (He's a rich man...she's a stripper, it's where my mind went)? Was Daisy hooked by a rich and good looking man who could build her a castle? These were all the things I had been thinking from the very first time we met Daisy in the Rock Chick series. What I got from Rock Chick Awakening was more, so much more.
What sort of life had Marcus led where someone like Daisy becomes his Princess? That probably seems a little judgemental but Daisy…well the Daisy we have come to love IS an ex-stripper. Yes, she has a heart of gold, but what makes a man who can have whoever or whatever he wants, choose a woman that gets paid to share her assets. A confident guy? Sure. A bloke who doesn’t judge a lady by the job she does? Yeppers. A man who sees she has skills but wants her to share them in a safe environment? Definitely. A hero who will do whatever it takes to see his woman protected and care for? Exactly!!
Marcus on paper is a bad guy, but I always found it hard to JUST call him a bad guy. This is a man that was portrayed to the reader as bad but always seemed to be doing good things. Marcus never hesitated to help when a Rock Chick was in strife.Read more ›
I've just finished all that is honey bunches of oats goodness with Daisy & Marcus. O. M. G.!!!!
This book makes me want to go back to every other Rick Chick book just to re-read every encounter with Daisy & Marcus, especially in Rock Chick...(can't remember which book it is!) when they all go and stay at the castle. I didn't appreciate the significance of the castle until now 😌I love all that is Daisy, from the top of her big hair to her quivering coochie & down to her diamentie studded wedges! Need I say more sugar! 😄
Marcus Sloan! Now there is a man that just makes me swoon, my goodness, what a beautiful, considerate, patient gentleman. So, so right for Daisy.
The encounters with the other Rock Chicks & Hot Bunch just made me "squeeee" with delight and getting that epilogue was just sugar sweet frosting on top! OMG!!! If ever anything was more deserved.... but I won't say more 😁
Just wanted to share the goodness that is Marcus & Daisy ❤ wow, just wow!! I think this is my equal top favourite Rock Chick instalment, do yourself a favour!

Kristen Ashley never disappoints. Loved the rock chick series (read them all twice) but to have the Daisy and Marcus story was the closure this series needed.Published 5 months ago by Amazon Customer
