"Roaring Mad Riley captures the many sensations that all children feel in moments of frustration, hurt, and anger. This wonderful book helps children to name their feelings while being heard in the moment. I love how the author creates co-regulation practices through breath and validation as Riley is encouraged to reframe the possibilities through a painful problem." --Dr. Lori Desautels
"We all know that everyone gets angry sometimes, but it's how you deal with that anger that matters. Roaring Mad Riley gives practical tips for handling anger in the context of a fun and engaging dinosaur theme. Allison's extension activities and conversation starters provide teachers or caregivers a helpful guide for continuing learning on this topic. Everyone needs this book on their bookshelf!" --Sasha Long, M.A., BCBA, Founder and President of The Autism Helper, Inc.
"Roaring Mad Riley is a clever story for young kids about managing anger, and it's an exceptional tool for grown-ups to have. Educators, childcare workers, and parents will love the bank of strategies to reinforce concepts from the story. Young children will be able to relate to the cycle of emotions Riley experiences as she resolves feeling roaring mad. I can clearly visualize a teacher utilizing this book to guide students through regulating their emotions. Allison Szczecinski's work is a true culmination of her expertise as a brilliant teacher and counselor to young children." --Rozy Patel, M.A.T., M.Ed., Award-Winning Educator and Manager of Mentoring with the Golden Apple Foundation

First off, I love that it addresses a real life situation that can happen, a kid knocks over her blocks.
Second, she does actions that my son does, throws things, and screams/yells.
Third, my son loves dinosaurs and the book is filled with them. He likes naming the ones he sees.
Finally, it provides multiple ways to calm down and express her feelings.
We read this book to him for a few nights before bed and it started to sink in. Every time he has a tantrum we asked if he was mad and told him don’t be like Roaring Riley. We then would do the breathing and counting with him. It helped him calm down sand the tantrums happen but they aren’t as bad.
Highly recommend this book. But don’t read it to them while they are mad, it won’t sink in. Wait until bedtime.
