I loved the first book. Fun, witty and scarily sexy while at the same time gross as hell. This book? Not so much. The author seems really obsessed with penises. I mean REALLY obsessed. And puss oozing ones at that. Gross, but not a total breaker. Fish hook guy is funny, Gil is on point as always, Wendy is her usual mean but funny self, but Amanda...oh boy. Her character has turned into a just plain unfunny, bitter b*tch. I seriously cannot stand her in this book.
Then there's the overuse of the word ret*rd. Maybe I'm too sensitive, but raising a handicapped child kinda does that to a gal. I read to enjoy myself. I do not enjoy jokes about the handicapped being told over and over and over. It's not once or twice, it's multiple times and with side notes mocking the reader if they are offended.
With all of that combined, what could have been another funny and engrossing read just became a really irritating and uninteresting bore. The author went from being really funny in the first book to trying too hard and being annoying.... like a loud drunk at the bar trying to impress the ladies with his abrasive laugh and obnoxious jokes then making fun of the chick cause she's not interested. Not fun.
