Product description

Product Description

Honor thy father and thy mother.

Stress is a constant in Detective Miriam Rome’s life due to her heavy caseload. Now she’s facing an especially gruesome crime: a pediatrician’s wife has been brutally murdered, and a Bible verse written in her blood is found at the scene. As the tranquil city of Union Park, Texas, is left reeling, Detective Rome pursues every possible lead in her search for the murderer.

When a second slaying—and second bloody quote—seems to confirm that a serial killer is at large, Rome is forced to turn to her former partner for his particular insight. Father Augustine Treece had walked away from police work, but now Rome’s request has drawn him back into the grisly world he thought he’d left behind.

Working to stay ahead of the murders, Detective Rome and Father Treece must forgive their past to protect the next victim…a task that tests Rome’s limits when the killer hits too close to home.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than Patterson 10 June 2016

I love crime novels/thrillers ala James Patterson. And I've enjoyed Ms Stones writing under her pen name. This surpasses both.
The main character is human and flawed, driven and passionate; all in all, the perfect detective. She makes you pull for the victims and for her to both solve the crime as well as fix her personal issues. I hope there will be more crimes for this heroine to solve!

Loved this book. The main character was awesome, smart, funny and real. The story was intriguing and the flow of the book was smooth and swift. Love, murder, deceit, trauma, family, cops and priest. This one has it all. It even has dogs.
5.0 out of 5 stars Rite of Wrongs 26 September 2016

I had to read the first chapter of Rite of Wrongs twice, just to be sure that what I thought I had read was really what I read. I'll be the first to admit that I was a bit apprehensive about the book after that first chapter. I'm not one who likes a lot of gore and bloody scenes, but I continued on with the book. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy the book read. While the images were a bit disturbing, the words on the page seemed to make it all right in my mind.

The story is about a series of serial killings, all linked together with a common denominator. The story is developed quite well, and the characters are described in such a way that it sucks you into their world. I have to admit that by the end of the book, I really liked each of the characters for who they were. I can easily recommend this book to others.

I received a copy of this book as part of a giveaway from Goodreads. The opinions expressed solely belong to me and are my honest and unbiased opinions.

This is a great police procedural. Great enough that I can see it being a TV show like L&O SVU or Rizzoli & Isles. The main detective is smart and messed up and relatable because she's not perfect. I hope there are more Miriam Rome books to come!
