Product description

Product Description

The world is full of old celebrities in sports, fashion, film, and music, who are ruined today and are desperately struggling for survival.

The Rise and Fall Of A Poor Man is inspired by real cases. It tells the story of a poor boy who grew up in a street where crime and poverty went hand in hand and who one day, thanks to football, became a multimillionaire hero of the masses.

Alexander was too much of a restless spirit and could not handle all the money, fame, vanity and opportunists. After a decade of great success came the end of his career, the loss of income, tax burdens and a divorce that cost him millions. A fatal combination that quickly ruined Alexander, who again had to fight for a dignified existence.

Will he be able to turn his life around? This book has a surprising ending!

I have read many books in my life, and enjoyed many of them too. But rarely will I read a book and then tell everyone I know to read it too, which is what I did with this one. I received this book for free and voluntarily reviewed - just try to stop me telling as many people as I can about how enjoyable this tragicomedy is. Without any spoilers, just take my word (and that of other reviewers) that this is a book you won't regret reading.

3.0 out of 5 stars "The Values Of Life" 9 June 2017
By Nancy L. Silk - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
The author of this story tags it as a tragicomedy, but to me it's more truth sometimes, rather than fiction. It's the story of a man who was raised in a poor community where crime and poverty reigned. Alexander Baum was nearly an illiterate kid who eventually grows to an adult and has an outstanding career as a top-notch football player. He had everything, more wealth than most people can earn in a lifetime. But then ... well, I think you realize that his life changes again, and not for the good. This is a fascinating story, almost written like a storybook. The writing style is simple, easy to read. There are laughs along the way, but it seems sad to laugh about one's misfortunes in life.
5.0 out of 5 stars A reflection on the human condition. 10 May 2017
By Zara Bezuhov - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
Although styled as a tragicomedy, the story of Alexander Baum by John Rose is really neither tragic nor comic, but rather a reflection on the human condition. The plot shows that material wealth and fame while sacrificing spiritual and moral values are barren pursuits that do not lead to true happiness. The book does not reveal the country in which the events unfold because the story can well apply to any city in the modern world. A short story that can be easily read on a plane or on the beach, yet it is not lacking depth.
5.0 out of 5 stars A Big Mirror 2 May 2017
By Helen Garmond - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
In civilization as we know it, every national oligarchical establishment could collapse into anarchy. Extreme conclusion are not necessarily
valid, but probably reflects the fears of every establishment in its behaviours, politics and actions. Overall "Rise and Fall of a Poor Man" is a big mirror.
Since born, Alexander Baum is - as ourself - encouraged, stimulated, monitored and replaced as a "weak link" by a next generation of fools, the next carismatic actor in the "house of secrets".
To keep the public informed and not misinformed, alert and not malleable is what John Rose perceives. And I totally agree with him.

No doubts that is an excellent book. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to feel a real connection with: the author through the story and its characters and with that beautiful feeling of being captivated with a book again as i used to do it when i was a child.
I absolutely loved it!
