Product description
In < strong>< em> Dominion</em></strong>, each player starts with an identical, very small deck of cards. In the center of the table is a selection of other cards the players can " buy" as they can afford them. Through their selection of cards to buy, and how they play their hands as they draw them, the players construct their deck on the fly, striving for the most efficient path to the precious victory points by game end.
< strong> Dominion</strong> is not a CCG, but the play of the game is similar to the construction and play of a CCG deck. The game comes with 500 cards. You select 10 of the 25 Kingdom card types to include in any given play— leading to immense variety.
From the manufacturer

2nd Edition features updated cards, artwork and streamlined rules
You want a Dominion!
You are a monarch, like your parents before you, a ruler of a small pleasant kingdom of rivers and evergreens. Unlike your parents, however, you have hopes... dreams! You want a bigger kingdom, more pleasant, with more rivers, and a wider variety of trees.
This is a game of building a deck of cards
The deck contains your resources, victory points, and the things you can do. It starts out a small sad collection of Estates and Coppers, but you hope that by the end of the game it will be brimming with Gold, Provinces, and the inhabitants and structures of your kingdom.
A Quick Glance
- Tactical game for 2-4 Players
- 30 minute playing time
- Ages 13 and up
Six cards were replaced and one added compared to the first edition. The base cards have art now, and the trash has a mat.

It's deceptively simple to learn, quick, and every game is different. A great game for 2 players, and also good in groups.

If you’re not familiar with deck building, it is simply where each player starts with the same cards and has the opportunity to buy new and different cards which will hopefully propel them towards the goal of the game, which in this case is getting victory points.
As I said, the game is easy to teach, family friendly and sits about a light to mid weight game for me. It plays in about 30 - 45 mins and plays 2 - 4 players.
I personally love this game and the wife loves it even more, we’ve played it with friends and family and it is still an interesting and enjoyable game even after all the plays that we have had. The only downsides I think are that set-up and take down of the game can be a little bit of a pain and that the theme of the game is pretty thin, other than this I think it is an excellent game and worthy of your consideration.

It's a game that's easy to learn by just playing it once or twice, though obviously you continue to learn as you go.
Easy to learn but difficult to describe concisely. It's really a card game rather than a board game. The board is just used to set out the game cards with which you are playing. There is an element of chance in which cards you pick up - when you have to - but the main part of the game is the skill with which you use those cards to achieve your own objective and to frustrate your opponents.
There are about 30 different types of card but for each game only ten types are selected, so there are many different variations on a theme. Each game will probably take between 40 minutes and an hour.

At first Dominion does feel overwhelming. The rule book is 16 pages! However much of this is just exampes of play and descriptive of cards. The rules account for less than half. Once you understand the mechanics of the game it is fairly simple and flows smoothly between players.
I've only played two players which very quickly becomes very tactical. I am very much looking forward to four players.
I thoroughly recommend Dominion to everyone. Is superb fun and has great replayability before considering expansions.
