5.0 out of 5 stars Truly Loved This Book... 4 February 2016
By Tina England - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
What can, I say is that; I was looking forward to reading this book. The story of Ruthie and Sterling was one that, I was looking forward to reading. This is book eight in The Dixie Warden MC Series.

"He was so beautiful, but everything I would never go for again. Muscular. Military. An Alpha. Those three things combined made a man who always felt he knew the right way."

From the first page this story flowed telling the story of Ruthie and Sterling, but what daily struggles these two went through on a daily basis. I loved the connection these two had before they got involved with each other. The bond they had, but that they never judged each other over what has happened in the past. Everyday Ruthie was dealing with something new or was treated even judged on her past. What I loved about Ruthie even though it bothered her, that she never gave up on what she wanted to do in life or herself. What Ruthie went through before and after prison no one should, ever have to go through this.

I can say Sterling grew on me throughout this story, I just loved how he never cared what others thought of him with Ruthie, but how Alpha he became with her. I enjoyed the back and forth banter with his brothers he grew up with in foster with. Even though Sterling was gone a lot with his Military job, he never once forgot about Ruthie or the family he loved so much.

"Sterling..." I started. "You're in the Navy. You're a freakin' SEAL. You're a mother lovin' hero. Why wouldn't she be proud of you?"

I'm just going to say, I truly enjoyed this book by Lani Lynn Vale, she never fails me in her writing. From the first page till the end you truly love the flow of this story. Yes, you do get the drama that comes along with the book, but as well a really good storyline and some really HOT sexy scenes. I'm going to say wow, that's all. Go grab this book and enjoy this book like, I did. I promise you'll love it as much as, I did.

"You're mine and I'm yours. We'll make our lives good together. We'll have babies. We'll buy a house. We'll grow old together until we can't see the other's faults. We'll be together forever. And then, when we're done on this earth, we'll go out together, because I deserve happy, and so do you."

“Sterling, I’m one &*^@#! up mess.”
“Well, that makes two of us. …Trust me. My &*^@#! up mess could easily complete with your &*^@#! up mess.”

Ruthie was the hopeful, young bride when she entered into what turned out to be a loveless marriage with her husband, Bender. Unbeknownst to Ruthie, Bender had wanted her best friend, Lily, who was in love with his best friend, Dane. Ruthie was nothing more than a means to an end in Bender’s plan to make Lily jealous; a plan that seriously backfired on him when she turned up pregnant and his parents forced him to “do the right thing.” An enormous man, both in stature and in strength, the three-sport college athlete quickly turned his anger at the situation on Ruthie in the form of physical and verbal abuse. One day that abuse went too far, and after sustaining a particularly brutal beating, Ruthie was not only hospitalized but she also lost her baby. She returned home knowing that the abuse would continue. The next time her husband turned fists to her, though, she was ready and shot him in self-defense. Unfortunately, she was charged, prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and served every minute of her ten-year sentence, eight years of which had been spent as Sawyer’s cellmate.

“…with her arms wrapped around me, everything was right in my world.”

Sterling, an active-duty Navy SEAL and a member of the Dixie Wardens MC, was abandoned as an adolescent into the foster care system by his mother. There he met his two foster brothers, Cormac and Garrison, and the three of them managed to survive a hellish experience with their abusive foster father. Sterling enlisted immediately upon turning eighteen, and in his years as a SEAL, he’s seen, been through and survived a lot. All of it, coupled with the abuse he survived in foster care, has marked him deeply, and he’s got his own demons. He met Ruthie at an impromptu Dixie Wardens surprise party in his honor when he returned from a long deployment. He knew immediately that this woman was different, special and someone he definitely wanted to know better.

”Everyone here is so freakin’ mean. … They don’t even know me.”

Ruthie is having a very hard time assimilating into life in Kilgore. To say that she is unwelcome there is putting it mildly; she’s openly scorned, ridiculed and ostracized. She’s always on guard, and she feels very much alone. One of the few bright spots in her existence is her friendship with Sterling. It’s obvious he wants more, but Ruthie is determined not to drag him into the darkness of her life. Sterling is equally determined, though, and just when he finally manages to convince Ruthie to go on a date with him, Uncle Sam, the ultimate cock-blocker for a SEAL, suddenly comes calling. Sterling, under-the-gun to report on base, takes off without saying goodbye to Ruthie for a mission that turns out to be ill conceived and goes completely FUBAR once it’s underway. Ruthie is crushed thinking Sterling stood her up, but once the news breaks that a SEAL team is missing in Iran, that disappointment turns to distress as she, like the rest of the country, is glued to the TV waiting for news.

”… What do you call it when adults go on dates?”

Both of them individually have more baggage than a Samsonite salesman, and together they could fill an entire store with it. But in each other, they find kindred spirits; Ruthie finds someone who makes her feel safe and wanted, and Sterling finds someone who is capable of not only handling his demons, but also chasing them away. As their relationship grows and progresses, they are both slowly unburdening themselves to each other. In the weeks Sterling and his SEAL team were missing, a lot was going on in Kilgore. Ruthie’s situation deteriorated, and someone from Sterling’s past showed up. When he finally returns, though, there is no rest for the weary, new couple as the hits keep coming and the drama and loss they need to wade through grows. Will they be able to stand strong in the face of all of the adversity around them? Will it unite them or tear them apart?

“We can’t see into the future and we can’t change the past. You’ll just have to learn to live with it, and hope you have someone… to see you through.”

I’ve been anxiously awaiting Right To My Wrong and Ruthie’s story since she was introduced in Counter To My Intelligence. As usual, Lani didn’t let me down, and she gave her readers an awesome ending to the fan-favorite Heroes of the Dixie Wardens series with Right To My Wrong. I absolutely adore Vale’s books; her writing style, the types of alpha heroes and smart, sassy heroines in her steamy, suspenseful plots coupled with Vale’s trademark sense of humor are always add up to a sure hit for me. Each month when her latest release hits my Kindle, I know I’m in for a treat. Ms. Vale is an immensely talented writer, and she’s at the top of her game when writing about every-day heroes like police officers, firemen and paramedics, and the evidence of that is in this wildly successful, much beloved series. While I’m sad to see this series come to an end, I am very excited about what lies ahead. 5 hard fought, ferocious, forever smooches for Lani Lynn Vale’s Right to My Wrong!

1.0 out of 5 stars Too much going on and not enough editing 10 March 2016

I really like most of Vale's work that I've read. However, I think she's putting books out too fast and working on too many different projects at once. Her stories are starting to read very rushed without letting you connect to the characters like you did in the beginning of her series. There were just too many plots going on in Right To My Wrong. It felt like a soap opera at times with all of the trials the H/h are put through. There are also some very confusing scenes where it feels like she changed what she was writing mid-thought but forgot to delete the section she changed. Like Ruthie being at lunch with her friend and then flashing back to the night before with Sterling but Sterling was out of the country on a mission.

I've read all if the Freebirds, Dixie Wardens and Kilgore PD series. After this one, I think I'm going to take a break from this author. There's something to be said for quality over quantity.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved every word! 4 February 2016
By Books Laid Bare & Books Laid Bare Boys - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
If there is one thing that Lani Lynn Vale has nailed bang to rights it is how to dish up an alpha man, every single one of her guys could be the poster boy for that cause, they all have alpha down to a very fine art and Sterling, man oh man he was rocking his own definition and he was damn fin e while he was doing it, Ruthie was a lucky woman having this sexy SOB in her life.
The Dixie Wardens have been my stand out series of the last year and as for Lani, I am now the proud owner of every single one of her books.
Sterling and Ruthie met up in Counter to My Intelligence, and I wasn’t sure that they would actually get a story of their own but I was thrilled that they did because I wanted to see them happy.
Sterling was a Navy Seal and while many of the guys had military backgrounds, Sterling was slightly different in as much as he was still in the Navy and was well equipped to be deployed on the most dangerous of missions at a moment’s notice. His squad didn’t just take off for the run of the mill emergencies, they were the elite, the best of the best and with them it wasn’t only lives that were on the line, it was everything.
Ruthie well we know that spent time in prison for the death of her ex-husband at her hand. Life is far from easy for Ruthie, she seems to be the butt of a campaign to get her moved out of her home, she is constantly getting tickets from a particularly zealous cop and top that with the fact that she almost believes that she deserves the angst and you have a recipe for disaster.
I hated her self-doubt and the fact that she put up with more than she should have, she needed to stand tall, she had done her time and when it comes down to it, her ex wasn’t worth her pain, not now and definitely not now.
When Sterling showed an interest it was hard for her to accept that he might actually like her for who she is on the inside, for the person that she kept locked away but he couldn’t deny that she was attracted to him. But his job and the uncertainly that that involved was another dynamic that for Ruthie meant she had to learn to trust, a foreign concept for her, especially where men are concerned.
When Sterling goes missing on a mission, I was alongside Ruthie every step of the way and if I could have held her hand while she counted the days until she could hold him again, I would have done so in a heartbeat, the one person that had broken through her wall and she just couldn’t lose him.
The love between the two of them shone off the page, they were a super couple, they fit well together, they were strong but both had a vulnerability about them that meant they were just what each other needed, they were the perfect fit.
The angst and anxiousness that this book brought out in me was more than I thought I would get, normally these guys wrap me up and make me feel safe, I know they love their women, I just have to bear with them while they get to grips with it all themselves and Sterling was no different
I super series that is now on my re-read list and I might just have to have that duvet day really soon!!

5.0 out of 5 stars I wanted a picture of the cover on every page just so I could swoon !! 4 February 2016

I am so happy to have Ruthie's story after reading about her in Silas and Sawyer's. Ruthie has had a crap filled life and just out of jail for something she should have been praised for she is now a target in town by everyone who has nothing better to do with their time.

Being friends with Sawyer , who is now with Silas , gives Ruthie the safety and family love of the Dixie Wardens and all of their extended family as well. They watch out for their own , they protect and love fiercely. Ruthie needs that right about now when things start happening to her around her house. This also means that Ruthie has some interactions with some pretty hot and surprisingly single MC guys !! Currently Sterling has caught her eye and having known him for a bit now she is definitely interested !! Sterling is a Navy SEAL just home from a mission. He and Ruthie have way more in common than they know and right as they begin to get to know each other better Sterling disappears and everyone is worried about him on this mission. Once home safely he is free to be with Ruthie as long as she can handle his job. These two are great together. Their chemistry is on fire and Ruthie tells it like it is. They have hurdles to overcome as a couple and as individuals. Being that they have so much in common they are able to understand and help each other. Just when you think two people couldn't have more in common we see a big twist/reveal. It may seem weird to some but to me it almost seemed like fate. Throughout their issues and heartache we uncover a new love story and enjoy more from all our faves and even get a little treat at the end !!

I look forward to the next 2 series this author is working on and I cannot wait to meet these guys !! SIDENOTE - this cover is AMAZING :)
