After realizing that she didn't know her husband at all, Savanna decides to finally take control of her life. She packs up her kids and whatever she can fit in a small moving van and heads to Silver Spring and the house her parents left to her and her brother, hoping to start over in place where no one holds her responsible for her husband's actions.
Gavin has found peace in his life and is on his way to finding success in a music career. His wasn't expecting a new neighbor, but lucky for her, he caught her before she hit the collapsed bridge between the two houses. Being the good guy and neighbor he is, Gavin steps up to help Savanna that evening and the next morning, despite her unintended insult to him and his tenure at the Boy's ranch.
Gavin realizes that Savanna and her kids could use a friend, especially after a little investigating gives him all he needs to know about why she chose a fixer-upper for a new home.
With a Brenda Novak book, I know I can always expect a compelling story with strong characters, and this did not disappoint. Savanna had been through so much in the past couple of years, but instead of feeling sorry for herself, she picked herself up and did what she needed to in order to make life better for her kids and herself. With the experience she had with her husband, she had no intention of getting involved with another man, ever (her first conversation with Gavin is pretty direct about this!). Gavin had plans of his own that didn't include Silver Springs, but he didn't feel comfortable leaving before his adopted Mother was settled and happy. Then, he met Savanna and felt happy just helping her start over. Then, the attraction and the trust grew.
There are hurdles they both have to overcome, both separately and together, and decisions to make on their way to finding whether they have a future together. It was fun getting to know Gavin and Savanna, as well as revisiting Silver Springs. I love this new town and series that Novak has created. I can't wait for the next visit!

Honestly this entire series was spectacular. I started with Book two, ended up then buying the other three because I had to know more about these characters. I truly enjoy Brenda's writing and can assure it does not disappoint.
You have these really well built characters with fantastic back stories that you almost want it to be a TV series a short films. Love, love loved all four books. Romance, drama, some thriller. Give it a go. What have you got to lose?

Romance with some mystery.
Reviewed in the United States on 16 May 2018Verified Purchase
Mother of two realizes she's married to a possible rapist, of course she believes him when arrested, but his explanations just don't add up. Once she leaves to start a new life, she meets her new neighbor and her whole world changes. The romance moves quickly, the mystery of did her husband do it or not covers the whole book. The Hero of the book has a lot to deal with also. I kind of thought with what he has going on in his life, would have made him leary of getting physically involved with a new person.
This can definitely be a stand alone while in the Silver Springs series. Having read the previous books gives you a richer understanding of the area and characters, it can still be read without previously reading prior stories.

Classic, Phenomenal Brenda Novak
Reviewed in the United States on 4 November 2017Verified Purchase
Savannah Gray has moved to the farmhouse her late father left her. She had to do something after finding out that her husband was being charged with the assault and rape of three women in the small town where they lived. Savannah is so angry, confused, scarred and worried about her children, herself, her crazy mother-in-law, who keeps sending her threatening texts and her husband who keeps calling her from jail to rail that he is innocent. She meets Gavin, her next door neighbor, who happily helps her from the night she arrives and worms his way into her and her children's heart within less than a week. Gavin has his own set of problems, an ex-girlfriend who says she's pregnant and, it could be his. Her boyfriend who is furious and, she will do ANYTHING to get Gavin back. These two have huge mountains to climb, not only in their personal lives but, in their newly developing relationship with each other. Ms. Novak is phenomenal in molding her characters into true to life people and, making them feel so real that you do not EVER want the story to end!!!

Gavin and Savanna are in a Pickle or Two
Reviewed in the United States on 12 November 2017Verified Purchase
Savanna needs a change. Her and her kids need to get away. They can't live like this, they can't take it. These are a few of the things Savanna is thinking about at the beginning, and who can blame her? Her husband has been arrested for committing terrible crimes right under her nose. She had no idea, but everyone thinks she did. So she decides to move herself and her 2 children to another state and try to start over. She just didn't count on needing so much help and falling for the man helping her, who happens to be her neighbor.
Gavin Turner, musician, handyman, and neighbor, has his own issues. His ex-girlfriend just told him that she may be pregnant with either his baby or her other ex's baby. She wants a chance and he doesn't, at least not really.
Savanna and Gavin meet on the night she arrives in Silver Springs. The attraction is instant and due to everything going on, they try to fight it as it grows. But ultimately they give in and support each other through both of their extremely hard times.
I liked this story, I just wish there was more to the resolution of Savanna's side of the story. I liked how the story went into their individual struggles with their issues and their relationship and how each made the choice they made.
