******STRONG LANGUAGE & EXPLICIT SEXUAL SCENES******18+

The only man Haven Wells ever loved left her broken, feeling emotionally battered and imperfect. Seven years later she's found solace in the bookstore she owns, finding love between the pages of the books she reads. Haven has adapted to a life without love or men, living vicariously through her best friend and roommate.

He's Perfect. Just ask him. Latch McKay is gorgeous, rich and successful. A famous graphic designer, he's well known for the video games he creates. However, he's also known for the trail of women he leaves behind. Latch is the walking, talking definition of wanton sex.

When Latch sees Haven at a party it's lust at first sight. A night of intoxicated passion leaves him wanting her so much he's almost willing to give up his man-whore crown. Haven has no idea why this gorgeous and much younger man wants her. After two weeks of Latch stalking her...his version of wooing — Haven has tried everything to make him go away.

But, Latch doesn't give up, and Haven finally agrees to one date. If Latch can break through Haven's walls, he just might have a chance to keep her. Unfortunately Latch has a secret of his own. As Haven's walls begin to crumble, Latch's dark secret begins to emerge.

1.0 out of 5 stars ********Spoiler Alert******** The plot of this book is that an older woman and a younger man fall in love, but Haven has no idea 2 September 2014
By C. Wilcomb - Published on Amazon.com

I would give this book 0 stars if possible. Please don't buy this book without being aware of what it contains! I have never written a review of a book, but there is no way I can not issue a warning to girls and women everywhere, especially those who have survived physical, emotional, and/or sexual abuse.

********Spoiler Alert********

The plot of this book is that an older woman and a younger man fall in love, but Haven has no idea that Latch is an alcoholic and drug addict. One night, Latch RAPES Haven. Although that word is never used in the book, instead replaced with the ubiquitous "You forced yourself on her," it was not consensual. The fact that he was drunk and high, and unable to remember what he did immediately after the assault, does NOT make it any less abhorrent. Later, while in rehab, Latch remembers he "forced himself" on Haven and says in his journal that he can't believe he wasn't arrested that night. I thought, "finally the author is going to address the rape." But no, it turns out he was surprised he wasn't arrested for beating up Haven's ex, which brings me to the physical abuse. In Haven's relationship with her ex, he emotionally and physically abused her for years, to the point of STICKING A GUN IN HER MOUTH AND TELLING HER HE WAS GOING TO KILL HER. Haven never reports either assault - the rape or the physical abuse - and chooses to just "forget" they ever happened, which explains why she is emotionally stunted. Further, Latch states how happy and relieved he is that his wealth allowed him bribe the ex to avoid an arrest and prison. And guess what, after all of this, Haven gets her HEA - marriage, love, and a baby.......with her rapist.

This book teaches: 1) that if a woman doesn't scream NO over and over, it isn't rape; 2) that if a woman orgasms during the assault, it isn't rape; 3) that being drunk and high somehow excuse rape; and 4) that if you are lucky enough to be rich, it is perfectly acceptable to bribe your way out of being held responsible for your criminal actions.

I have read many books that address physical, emotional, and sexual abuse in a realistic and responsible manner, such as providing a warning in the book description, and providing information on resources (RAINN, Rape Crisis, etc) at the end of the book so survivors can get the help they need to heal.

I am absolutely shocked that so many people have left such positive reviews of a book that downplays rape, abuse, and responsibility!

5.0 out of 5 stars Latch, the dirty talking Scot, will steal your heart! 30 July 2014
By Lisa F - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
I was introduced to Cory Cyr when I picked up her first release Bite and Release. I loved that one and knew I would definitely be picking up her future releases. When I saw the blurb for this one, it only made me want to read it more. I love the older woman/younger man storyline. Haven was a woman who had a totally one-sided horrible relationship with a man who tried his hardest to kill her spirit. She's a strong woman but damaged. Latch is a totally sexy video game designer who has quite the reputation with the ladies Did I mention he has an accent? Yes, he's Scottish. These two together are HAWT. Latch is quite the dirty talker and he was able to bring out Haven's naughty side as well. It was fun to read about Haven's sexual awakening. You get a couple of short chapters from Latch's POV and it was great to read about the intensity of his feelings for Haven. Their best friends (Weezie and Keenan) were great support systems for Haven and Latch. I wouldn't mind a story about them. Hint Hint Cory!! There was a twist that I saw coming but it didn't take away my enjoyment of the story. I definitely recommend this book to everyone!

5.0 out of 5 stars WORTH THE BOOK HANGOVER 31 July 2014
By Patricia statham - Published on Amazon.com
THIS BOOK DESERVES MORE THEN 5 STARS

Well all I can say is that Cory has hit it out of the park again. She is the reason for the bags under my eyes and the intravenous coffee drip I have attached to my veins right now. Yes I know it is my own fault actually. I should not of started this book last night, but I as soon as I saw it say that it was live . Well my one click finger was itching, so I bought. The downloaded on to kindle, read the first page then the second page . Next thing I know hubby was taking away my popcorn bowl and kissing me good night. To which I responded I will be there soon , after one more chapter , well 4 chapters later and realizing I was on chapter 17. I decided to head to bed. Just finished the book.

Let me introduce you to Latch and Haven. Latch is for the lack of a better word a extremely sexy man whore , who is also a very rich man. But he is only 25, when he sees Haven at a party he is instantly drawn to the 37 year old . With her sexy librarian look but is broken beyond repair from a past relationship. The way they meet is right out of a romance novel, as he just promises her a taste. No names change but after she passes out , Latch being the gentleman he is takes her home . Then their relationship starts . The first few times well lack of a better word were awkward. Haven tries to push him away but he doesn't. I now have a new word for a blow job. puff chore anyone. I giggled when I read that . As their relationship grows, their pasts seem to come back and haunt them and Latch's dark secret is coming to light .

Cory takes us on a roller coaster ride of emotions. The intensity of Latch an Haven's characters just hit you in the gut. Latch is larger then life and Haven may seem naïve but she comes out of her shell and really blossoms with Latch. Cory can take a character from one extreme to the other and does it in such a way it will rip your guts out. There is one scene at the gala that you will want to kill Latch . Cory builds her characters up and lets them fall to the depths of hell only to be redeemed and you fall in love with the new and improved character. I love her female characters as they are older and seem to be broken at first then you see them grow and become the woman that they should be . You feel like she is writing just for you.. We all can pick out something from each of her characters . If it is the best friend that is there to pick you up, eat junk food with you and then turn around and kick the bastards ass that hurt you . To the guy friend that would beat the crap out of you to teach you not to treat women the way you did.

Trust me ladies . you will fall in love and then get your heart ripped out, Then fall in love again.. This is one of those books that will leave wanting more. I laughed, I wanted to slap a few characters upside the head and I cried and I mean I had an ugly cry in a couple of areas. The book is flawlessly written and Cory writes with such love you can't help but to fall in love. There is a lot of sex in this book and I do mean a lot of sex. but there is also a romance and a love story. You will be wrapped up in a whirlwind of emotion .love and sex. You will want to find a very quiet place, grab your favorite drink, snack and comfy blanket . Because once you start reading you will not stop until you are done. Your kindle might have a melt down as you read but it is so worth it. This book should be on the top of your TBR LIST. I can't wait till Cory's next book . She is becoming one of my favorite authors . Check her out.

5.0 out of 5 stars A novel about the revival of two lost souls! 1 August 2014
By Book Excursions Book Reviews - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
Haven Wells is a thirty-seven year old woman who doubts her own worth and ability to be loved. Latch McKay is a rich, sexy and green-eyed twenty-five year old. Both Haven Wells and Latch McKay have personal troubles that threaten to make their blissful state come crashing down. Will these two marred souls find their revival and meet their happily ever after?

Reviving Haven opens with a tidal wave of eroticism. After that wave hits, you are left standing there thinking `I was not expecting that.' I loved this story and was spellbound from the beginning.

I found Haven Wells to be a likeable character. She is sweet, but has personal doubts that plague her. Her soul is damaged and her past constantly haunts her. Latch McKay is young and has plenty of sexual stamina. He has his own demons and secrets to deal with.

Sure, there's a lot of sex in this story, but Latch McKay is a young erogenous male. Haven and Latch compliment each other; their playful nature was natural and they really seemed to be captivated by each other.

Reviving Haven is a sexy, sweet, and romantic story. Your heart will melt for Latch and ache for Haven. This story will leave you satisfied and over-joyed when you find out what happens to these two.

I highly recommend this story to anyone looking for an erotic contemporary romance with a charming and lovable young male character.

1.0 out of 5 stars Much to be desired imo 12 September 2014

SPOILERS AHEAD

Maybe it's just me but when the man you love more than life, essentially forces himself on you, I wouldn't give him another chance even if I got pregnant from that encounter. Yes, he went to rehabilitation and after four months he is supposedly cured who is to say he won't relapse? When he takes, when you would've given freely does not make him a man worth knowing or a father figure at all. I understand he had an addiction, but if he loved her as much as he said, he should've trusted her with that addiction by he didn't and that doesn't work with me
